Kristen Houser & Kristy Trautmann: It’s ‘he said, she said’ by design

Proud of my colleague, Kristy Trautmann, Executive Director of the FISA Foundation, for raising awareness about this important issue.

We’ve lost track of the number of times recently that we’ve heard someone end a conversation about sexual harassment or abuse with a shrug and “It’s a he-said-she-said situation.” What they mean, invariably, is there is reason to doubt reports of sexual misconduct or assault if the woman r...

Today is #EqualPayDay and the #SAAMDayofAction. We are also transitioning from March as #WomensHistoryMonth to April as #SAAM. These two moments of recognition occuring on the same day signify how closely linked bodily autonomy and liberation, and economic justice are. A number of our organizations work to eradicate human trafficking, sexual assault, and sexual violence. Throughout the month, we will highlight our member organizations' grant making and volunteering around this topic.

"...what is potentially transformational about this moment is that for once the problem to be fixed is not women, but rather an overall social system that is anchored in male privilege and male violence (yes, also in our Jewish community)."

A great update from JWF grantee, Tzohar Seminary!

This past Friday, Tzohar Seminary was invited to tour the Frick Museum's exhibit "Undressed", about undergarments throughout the centuries. We were then invited to dialogue about women's body image and society's expectations of the roles of women, and our reactions to the historical items.

We had the unique opportunity to do a movement workshop with Bodiography Contemporary Ballet Company and shared our thoughts through movements that will be added to a dance created from the exhibit, to be performed in the theatre at the Frick on December 1st!

Thank you to the Frick Museum, Maria and the Bodiography dancers for having Tzohar Seminary be part of this wonderful learning experience!!!
