Congratulations to Chief Michael Lindenfelser on being sworn in as Chief of Police of the Upper St. Clair Police Department. Chief Lindenfelser was sworn in by Senior Judge D. Michael Fisher of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit prior to the Board of Commissioners meeting on August 31.
Chief Lindenfelser brings nearly two decades of service and a broad range of law enforcement experience to the position. He joined the department in 2007 as a dispatcher, became a Patrol Officer in 2010, was promoted to Sergeant in 2017 and Lieutenant/Operations Supervisor in 2021, and has served as Officer in Charge since May 2025.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from La Roche College and a Master’s degree in Legal Studies with a concentration in Criminal Justice from California University of Pennsylvania, now part of Pennsylvania Western University (PennWest). He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 278, and a recipient of the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award.
Throughout his career, Chief Lindenfelser has completed training and gained experience in a variety of specialized areas, including Computer Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA), ALICE active shooter response, TASER instruction, defensive tactics, accident reconstruction and child passenger safety. He has also served as an instructor for the CHAMPS program in Upper St. Clair schools.
