Last week, the Rowland School of Business kicked off the 6th year of its Rising Brothers and Sisters initiative, welcoming several high schools to Point Park on Tuesday, October 13th and Thursday, October 15th. 🌟

Students had the opportunity to listen and learn from various industry professionals, including "Income by Education" from Brittney Arnett, CPA (RSB Recruitment Coordinator), "Financial Literacy" from VP Clarence Jackson of Dollar Bank, "FAFSA and Scholarships" from George Santucci, Director of Financial Aid at Point Park, and Mark Conners from TriState Capital Bank.

After the discussion sessions, students toured Point Park's campus and spoke with a few professors about their future career/ college interests.

On October 8th, RSB Professors Carla Bianco and Shannon Lacek welcomed Jeremy Olson to speak to their Venues and Facilities Design and SAEM 101 courses! 🌟

Olson, a proud Point Park SAEM alum, currently serves as the General Manager at AEG/PromoWest Productions at Stage AE! He spoke to students about his life, education, and career thus far. Olson also opened the floor for students to ask questions.

The Student Accounting Association was pleased to welcome Tanner Hoffer from PPG Industries as our guest speaker this month. 🌟

A proud Point Park University alumnus and former SAA Treasurer, Tanner shared her career journey from student leader to Operations Accounting Supervisor at PPG’s Mojave Aerospace Coatings manufacturing plant. Students gained valuable insight into how cost accounting supports operational decision-making in a manufacturing environment and learned about the challenges and opportunities of working in operations finance.

Tanner also discussed PPG's FDL (Finance Development Leadership) Program, highlighting leadership development opportunities for early-career professionals and the skills employers seek in future finance and accounting leaders.

In addition to sharing her professional experiences, Tanner encouraged students to explore the many internship and full-time career opportunities available at PPG. Her presentation provided a great example of the diverse career paths available to accounting graduates beyond traditional public accounting roles. 👏👏

On October 1st, the Rowland School of Business, the SAEM Department, along with Professor Starz's SAEM 480 (Business Models) course, hosted the second annual SAEM Fest at Bison Bites and Brew! 🌟

Students had the opportunity to listen to an Upperclassmen panel featuring several SAEM students talking about their experiences.

Attendees also enjoyed live music thanks to Alexis Zak and Her Band, Brynn Elena, and The Pit Crew. 🎤

We would like to thank all the students, faculty, and staff who contributed to making this event a great success! Be sure to follow us as we host a variety of fun and engaging events throughout the academic year! 👏

Want to speak with prospective students about your experience and studies? Apply to be an RSB Student Ambassador! 🌟

The Student Ambassador will serve as an internal and external ambassador of the Rowland School of Business (RSB) for one semester, with an opportunity to continue based on performance and eligibility. The primary purpose of the student ambassador team is to assist with recruiting efforts of the Business School. The Student Ambassador will also monitor current student needs and morale.

This is a resume-building opportunity. This position comes with a stipend of $500 per semester and consists of approximately 20-25 hours of work. Student Ambassadors will also receive Point Park University t-shirts and merch items.
