We’re excited to welcome our newest caregivers, Donna, Valerie, and Lakeisha! They recently completed orientation with Coordinator Kelly, who covered everything they need to hit the ground running! Coordinator Heather also joined for the hands-on training demonstrations, practicing important skills like transfers, changing linens for bedbound clients, and using a Hoyer lift. We’re excited to have you on the team! 👏✨

🌟 September Caregiver Spotlight: Akia J. 🌟

For us at Visiting Angels, this is one of the most special parts of what we do. Sometimes, a client simply needs an extra hand a couple days a week. But over time, that can turn into something so much more.

Akia and Mildred have shared countless moments together, including celebrating Mildred’s 90th birthday. Akia isn’t just a familiar face to Mildred - she’s a trusted companion and a genuine friend. We love seeing the connection they’ve built and the joy they bring to each other. These two are the epitome of what we hope every client and caregiver relationship can become. ❤️

Here are 5 simple ways to help prevent falls at home:

1. Keep things well-lit
Make sure hallways, stairs, bathrooms, and other frequently used areas are well lit.

2. Clear the clutter
Keep walkways free of cords, clutter, loose rugs, and anything else that could become a tripping hazard.

3. Wear supportive footwear
Properly fitting, supportive shoes can help provide better stability around the home.

4. Make the bathroom safer
Non-slip surfaces, grab bars, and other safety equipment can help reduce the risk of falls.

5. Ask for a helping hand when needed
Sometimes the best way to stay safe is simply having someone nearby to provide an extra hand, some encouragement, or a little assistance.

A few small changes can make a BIG difference in helping older adults stay safe, confident, and independent at home.
