Serving all citizens and guests of the City of Pittsburgh, specifically the neighborhoods of Knoxville, Beltzhoover, Beechview, Bon Air, Carrick, Overbrook, Brookline, and the Borough of Mt. One of 13 ALS medic units serving Pittsburgh's 330,000 citizens and countless guests 24/7/365. Responds to approximately 5,000 of the City's 60,000 EMS calls per year.

Earlier today, crew members of Medic 2 took part in an impressive rescue operation in Brookline! A male patient was electrocuted by a high power line, lost consciousness, and fell onto some scaffolding below. Once responders got there, treatment was initiated and he was put into a Yates harness. He then was lowered from the scaffold into a second story window and carried the rest of the way out of the building. Thankfully, he only sustained minor burns to his head and hand and was transported to the hospital in stable condition. Great work to the crews of Medic 2, Rescue 2, and Rescue 1, as well as Unit 503, Unit 51, and MD 550! Also great work to 26 Engine, 26 Truck, and Zone 6 police for support.

After traveling over 220,000 miles, enduring innumerable garage visits, responding to countless emergencies, and transporting thousands of patients, old Medic 2 has retired to the backup fleet as we welcome a new truck! We’re excited for this next legacy, and are thankful for a new ambulance so we can keep serving Pittsburgh the way we always have!

Great jobs by Medic 2 & 8, Rescue 1 & 2, and Unit 503 as they delivered swift technical rescue, hazmat medical decontamination, and proper medical care to an entrapped patient!

We’re very proud of Medic 2’s own Crew Chief Brianna Kramer, who has a passion towards protecting and caring for newborn babies! She personally knit tiny hats that have been distributed among all pediatric kits city-wide, so that each newborn baby encountered by a Pittsburgh ambulance will receive one. Something as simple as a lovingly-knitted hat can protect a newborn against rapid body heat loss through their head. Thank you, Brianna, for your love towards Pittsburgh’s littlest ones!
