A new restaurant, , is now open in Allentown.

Henhouse is one of the first recipients of the URA's 2026 Commercial Facade Grant funding round to complete their renovation project, and we're thrilled to join Mayor Corey O'Connor to celebrate another success of the Main & Main Initiative, which is supporting Pittsburgh's main streets across the city.

New additions are coming to Vallozzi’s in Downtown Pittsburgh!

This month, the URA closed on a loan with Julian and Ernest of Vallozzi’s, a longstanding Italian restaurant on Fifth Avenue. The URA financing will support multiple renovation projects to expand the restaurant’s offerings, including a new Mozzarella and W**e Bar, a full-service LaVazza espresso and coffee bar, and updates to the existing restaurant bar area.

Whether stopping for a morning coffee and pastry, meeting a colleague for lunch, or enjoying happy hour, we’re excited to see how these improvements will serve Downtown employees, residents and visitors.

326 homes are coming to Downtown Pittsburgh thanks to Beacon Communities LLC and Governor Josh Shapiro's Downtown Revitalization Plan.

In collaboration with our state and regional partners, the URA has invested and committed more than $17.8 million to support the new construction and preservation of these apartments, leveraging over $180 million in additional investment to bring hundreds of new housing opportunities to Downtown.

Here's where they are now.

🏢 First & Market 🏢
93 units at the corner of First Avenue and Market Street are nearing completion. The URA invested $4.825 million to help convert this former office building to affordable housing for seniors.

🏙️ May Building 🏙️
The in-progress renovation of 86 units at the May Building are preserving 46 affordable units of housing and creating 20 more. The URA invested $3 million to keep this building safe and secure into its next century of life.

🌆 901-903 Liberty Avenue 🌆
The conversion of two office buildings into one apartment building is underway, and it will create 50 new affordable units of housing. The URA invested $5 million to build on the success of Penn Avenue and the Cultural District.

🏭 120 Cecil Way 🏭
This old and vacant steam plant will be converted into 97 units of affordable housing. The URA committed $5 million toward this project. Financial closing is expected before the end of the year, and after that, construction will kick off on this complicated conversion.

The Standard on Fifth is bringing new housing and affordability to the growing Uptown neighborhood!

The URA joined Beacon Communities LLC for the ribbon cutting of the new 51-unit building on Fifth Avenue, which includes 40 affordable apartments and 11 market-rate. The URA supported the development with a $1.6 million investment through the Housing Opportunity Fund.

Located along the new bus rapid transit corridor between Downtown and Oakland, residents will have convenient access to the region's largest job centers.

Uptown Flats is now open!

Thanks to Bethlehem Haven and ACTION-Housing, 34 new units of long-term, supportive housing are available for women experiencing homelessness. The URA supported the project with a $2.5 million loan, helping to bring Uptown Flats across the finish line and create safe, stable and permanently affordable housing for our neighbors.
