Last week, over 200 band students in grades 4-7 participated in Tiger Summer Band! The 4 day experience included instrument specific sectional time with specialists, ensembles, and even gave a taste of the students' future with the Tiger Marching Band!

Out of more than 500 entries from 42 schools across 10 states, three North Allegheny students took home honors at the 2026 WQED Kids Writers Contest! McKnight Elementary celebrated a sister duo: first-grader Emma Gottron won first place, and third-grader Margaret Gottron took third. Meanwhile, Franklin Elementary second-grader Irene Lee earned a well-deserved honorable mention. The winners were officially announced on Saturday, May 30, at the Pittsburgh Book Fest.

Real-world sustainability took center stage today at the Learning Landscape conference in Grove City! North Allegheny environmental science teacher Dana Oliver partnered with Erin Whitaker from Fluxspace to present their innovative work with the Fork Farms Flex Farm Hydroponic System. Mrs. Oliver shared the cross-disciplinary framework that brought the project to life, highlighting how key partnerships with the Metz Culinary Management team, the North Allegheny Foundation, and Fluxspace make it all possible. Attendees learned firsthand how these powerful collaborations connect classroom theory directly to community impact, opening up incredible hands-on learning opportunities for students.

The North Allegheny boys volleyball program has won 24 WPIAL championships, 11 more than any other active school. Now turning their attention to the PIAA Class 3A championship, the Tigers seek one for the other thumb.
