El Colibri, a Latina women-owned restaurant and catering, is proud to announce the grand opening of its first brick-and-mortar location after years of growth through Pittsburgh-area farmers markets, catering, and a successful ghost kitchen operation.
The community is invited to celebrate this milestone on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at El Colibri's new home at 5331 Penn Avenue in Pittsburgh's Penn Avenue Arts & Commercial District.
The celebration will feature a festive piñata-breaking ceremony in place of a traditional ribbon cutting, honoring Mexican culture and community traditions. The piñata will be filled with Mexican candy, El Colibri stickers, and branded merchandise. Guests will also enjoy complimentary tastings and a chance to meet the mother-daughter team behind the business.
Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O'Connor and Allegheny County Executive Sara Innamorato are expected to attend the celebration alongside community leaders, neighborhood partners, and supporters who have helped make this dream possible.
