☕ A Farewell to a Friendship Favorite

After nearly nine years of serving the neighborhood, Friendship Perk N Brew closed its doors at the end of August.

In the latest issue of The Bulletin, editor Jamie Kelly spoke with owner Nick Redondo about the unexpected equipment failure that led to the closure, the challenges of running a small business, and the memories made along the way.

From trivia nights and live jazz to cooking demonstrations and community gatherings, Friendship Perk N Brew was more than just a place to grab coffee.

“It was a great run. I mean we had a lot of fun,” Redondo shared.

We're grateful for the years Friendship Perk N Brew spent bringing people together and wish Nick all the best in his next chapter.

A few things to know:
🍁 All clothing must be freshly washed & in good condition.
🍁 Fall & winter clothing is encouraged, but all seasons are welcome.

🍁 Leftover items will be donated to a local mutual aid collective

Bantha Tea Bar will also be serving food & drinks throughout the event, so stop by, grab a bite & enjoy some time with your neighbors.

Our September Greenzone Cleanup was a success, with 18 volunteers showing up to care for our neighborhood! Together, we accomplished quite a bit:

2,051 lbs. of debris removed
98 lbs. of metal recycled
48 lbs. of glass recycled
112 tires removed

Now, let's see if we can break that record in October!

Join Allegheny CleanWays next Saturday, October 17th, to help tackle the Winebiddle Street Steps, clearing the hillside between Hillcrest Street and the Garfield Greenzone Trail.

Construction continues to move along on Penn Avenue Phase 2, and the project remains on schedule despite some weather and utility delays.

Here’s what neighbors can expect from Update 17:
• Broad Street is becoming one-way westbound from Negley to Aiken, with new signage being installed.
• Between Aiken and Graham, crews are pouring curbs and preparing the roadway.
• Between Evaline and Pacific, crews are preparing tree pits for custom grates.

Up next, crews will begin pouring the travel and parking lanes between Aiken and Graham before work eventually shifts to the north side of Penn.

No new traffic or parking impacts are expected over the next two weeks.
