As many know, we're trying to secure a Democratic TRIFECTA in Pennsylvania state government this year, so that we can pass a minimum wage increase, codify protections for abortion access, protect workers' rights, pass the Fairness Act, put data centers in check, and so much more.

Pivotal to securing a trifecta in Harrisburg is winning the majority in the PA State Senate. Here are the key candidates for PA Senate who need to win and who need support if Democrats are to win the trifecta and gain the ability to pass legislation:

Shadyside Democrats thanks everyone who joined for our annual picnic yesterday! We were fortunate to have the sun and clear skies stick around until the end of our energizing gathering.

We were honored to have Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis, Congressmember Summer Lee, County Executive Sara Innamorato, Mayor Corey O'Connor, Senator Jay Costa, State Representative La'Tasha Mayes, County Treasurer Erica Rocchi Brusselars, City Councilor Erika Strassburger, PPS School Board Member Tawana Cook Purnell, Pennsylvania Democratic State Party Chair Eugene DePasquale, and Pittsburgh Democratic Committee Chair Daylon Davis join us as well!

Shadyside Democrats is doing all we can to make sure voters in the 7th Ward turn out to vote in this critical election, and we're supporting key Democratic candidates running in areas outside of Pittsburgh as well!

Useful Voting Information:

With Trump doing his best to highjack and discredit elections, it's good to know all your voting options, especially if you've requested a mail-in ballot. Here they are:

Vote at the Elections Office: As soon as ballots are finalized (likely mid-Oct), you can vote at the Elections Office at the Allegheny County Office Building, 542 Forbes Ave. This is true whether or not you've requested a mail-in ballot: you just request a mail-in ballot, fill it out, and turn it in. Once the deadline for requesting a mail-in ballot (Oct 27) passes, you can no longer request a mail-in ballot there, but if you've received one in the mail, you can complete it and turn it in at the central office up to and including Election Day.

Vote at a satellite office: Satellite voting locations around the county function just like the central Elections Office, but they close after Oct 27.

Vote via a ballot drop-off location: If you don't trust Trump's USPS (and why should you?), you can drop off a completed mail-in ballot at any ballot-drop off location around the county and it will not be subject to the postal service.

Vote at the polls on Election Day: If you've received a mail-in ballot but it's too late to put it in the mail, or you don't trust USPS, just take the whole ballot package to your polling location on election day. They can cancel ("spoil") it and you can vote normally. If your mail-in ballot never arrives and it's after the Oct 27 deadline, you should still go to your polling place on election day, tell them what's up, and vote provisionally. Don't worry if it comes to that. Provisional ballots ARE counted; they just take longer to tally because they need to be verified against the mail-in ballots to make sure nobody votes twice.
