🚨 Volunteers needed! 🚨

AgeWell is looking for volunteer drivers for AgeWell Rides, our volunteer-based transportation program that helps older adults get to local appointments, activities, shopping, or events. Reliable transportation is critical to helping older adults stay active, independent, and healthy.

Once you complete the application and screening process, we ask volunteers to provide a minimum of one ride per month, making this a flexible option for our volunteers! Our Bridge Builders had another great field trip to the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh! The kids enjoyed exploring their world through the interactive, creative exhibits, which was a wonderful learning experience for the whole group!

Thank you to our partners at Tickets for Kids for providing tickets for our field trip! Our Bridge Builders program helps immigrant and refugee youth with English language immersion, social-emotional learning, and the development of critical skills. These excursions are an important part of the learning experience, helping each child grow and thrive! We appreciate our partners and all that they do to make these experiences accessible.

Last month, JFCS was honored to participate in the Senate Democratic Policy Committee hearing on the rising cost of groceries and the impact on our communities, alongside colleagues from Feeding Pennsylvania and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. JFCS CEO Jordan Golin, pictured here on the right, addressed PA senators during the hearing.

All three organizations emphasized the importance of strengthening and protecting SNAP benefits and the growing demand for food assistance through food banks and pantries, such as the Squirrel Hill Food Pantry, as well as rising costs that are placing additional strain on these charitable food systems.

We are thankful to Senators Nick Miller and Jay Costa, along with their colleagues, who are working on policies and solutions to reduce food insecurity and financial instability for all Pennsylvanians!

Our Learn and Earn students have been out and about this summer! On this field trip to Contemporary Craft, they were introduced to various techniques that artists use in their exhibits, such as weaving and woodworking.

Our Learn and Earn program provides students with work-readiness training and career exploration opportunities throughout the summer. Through real-world experiences and guidance from our career counseling team, students build confidence, develop valuable workplace skills, and discover potential career paths that match their interests and goals.
