In her showcase at the American Jewish Museum, Hope Gelfand Alcorn's artwork uses color and rhythm to ask the question 'what might joy look like?' through her work and her words, she shows us how 'joy emerges through movement, attention, abundance, and surprise.'
Last Friday, our Squirrel Hill AgeWell members created their own joyful noise artwork by playing a game alongside Hope herself. Similar to the game of Battleship, participants took turns picking out cards with coordinate points, elements of Hope's signature pattern making, and past pieces to create their own rhythmic artwork. A truly joyful time was had by all, and we are very grateful to Hope for joining us.
Feeling inspired? You can find Hope Gelfand Alcorn's collection at the The American Jewish Museum, housed in the JCC in Squirrel Hill until October 30th, and then head upstairs to room 310 Rogal room on Friday's at 1:30 for the Creative Current: Crafts with Chaplain Mickey B where we close out the week connecting Jewish historical learning with a different art making technique to help activate our own creativity! (note: there will be no programming 10/16)
