The Fox Chapel Area School District is a nationally recognized, award-winning school district that produces high achievement in students, with a motivated and professional faculty and an involved and caring administration. The district currently operates six schools. The Fox Chapel Area School District is located in a dynamic suburban community about 11 miles northeast of downtown Pittsburgh. The

district includes six municipalities (the boroughs of Aspinwall, Blawnox, Fox Chapel, and Sharpsburg and the townships of Indiana and O’Hara) representing a wide range of social, economic, cultural, and religious backgrounds. The schools provide a comprehensive array of educational opportunities to serve the needs of this diverse population and to meet the high expectations of its residents. The district encompasses an area of about 36 square miles with approximately 30,000 residents.

The backpacks are packed, the new clothes are laid out, and all the devices are charged! (OK, we know that last one's going to be a hard maybe!)

Here’s to old friends, new faces, and a great year ahead. Students, you’ve got this! Staff, there will be extra coffee. Parents/guardians, another 12 hours or so, and the house will be quiet again! 😏

The Fox Chapel Area School District has a new face on its administrative team to begin the 2026-2027 school year.

Earlier this month, Dr. Kenneth Bissell assumed his new role as the district's executive director of secondary education and instruction.

Before arriving at Fox Chapel Area, Dr. Bissell served as the superintendent of the Greensburg Salem School District for nearly five years. Dr. Bissell began his career at Greensburg Salem in 2004 as a social studies teacher. In 2009, he became assistant principal at Greensburg Salem Middle School, and three years later, he was named the district's coordinator of secondary education.

Dr. Bissell holds a doctorate in education from the University of Pittsburgh, a master’s degree in geography and planning from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., and a bachelor's degree in secondary education and teaching from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

As an educator, Dr. Bissell strives to provide all children with a safe and secure learning environment and to develop each child into a responsible citizen capable of making a positive contribution to an ever-changing global society.

The halls of Fox Chapel Area High School bustled again Thursday as staff welcomed the Class of 2030 at the annual RiNG (Rising Ninth Grade) Orientation.

Incoming freshmen met their teachers, walked through their first-semester schedules, and even tackled their lockers for the very first time.

Special guest Joe Klimchak, in-game host for the Pittsburgh Pirates, inspired students with words of encouragement.

Thank you to our amazing student ambassadors for their help and for making the freshman class feel at home!

🦊 WELCOME BACK, STAFF! 🦊

Today, we officially kicked off the 2026-2027 school year with our annual back-to-school convening for the Fox Chapel Area School District staff.

Our team came together to reconnect, celebrate our shared PURPOSE, and look ahead to another year of learning, growth, and opportunity for our students. The energy and excitement throughout the morning were a great reminder of what makes Fox Chapel Area such a special COMMUNITY!

We’re grateful for the PASSION, CARE, and commitment our teachers and staff bring to our schools each and every day, and we can’t wait to see what we accomplish together this year.

Here’s to a great start and an incredible year ahead! We can't wait to see our students on Tuesday! ❤️🖤

Reminder: The mandatory PowerSchool Student Update form is now available in the PowerSchool parent portal!

It is imperative that the district has the most up-to-date information about your child(ren). Additionally, your child/children will not be able to receive medication at school if their student update is incomplete.

If your child is newly enrolling in the district for the 2026-2027 school year, you do NOT need to complete the student update.

Click on “PowerSchool Student Update” on the left-hand navigation menu to complete the information. Please complete the student update from a browser window, not the app. Be sure to click “Submit” when the form is completed.

Student schedules will be available starting Tuesday, August 18.
