BOOM Universe, in partnership with Artist Communities Alliance Artist Communities Alliance , is proud to announce that it is hosting new fellows from the McKnight Foundation McKnight Foundation in 2027 as part of the McKnight Artist Residencies Consortium Partner Program.

BOOM Concepts will welcome Ross Hutchens Ross H. , Nakara Forje 𝑁𝐴𝐾𝐴𝑅𝐴 𝐹𝑂𝑅𝐽𝐸́ , Ty Chapman Ty Chapman , and Marge Buckley Marge J. Buckley to Pittsburgh. Ross Hutchens is a multi-instrumentalist artist, Nakara Forje is a poet, singer, author, and teaching artist; Ty Chapman is a multi-published author and poet, and Marge Buckley is a painter who will focus more time on her playwright work during her time with BOOM.

Claudia Nolan, the partnerships manager of Artist Communities Alliance, had this to say about BOOM’s participation and support offered to the visiting residence artists:

BOOM_Concepts , in partnership with the National Performance Network National Performance Network and host Silver Eye Center for Photography, will present a special one-day, two-part photography workshop featuring Buffalo-based photographer Brandon Watson. The workshop, “Undertones,” centers on working alongside marginalized communities in Pittsburgh to explore photography as a collaborative tool for storytelling, connection, and self-definition.

This workshop is for beginner to intermediate photographers.
-Must be 18+
-Accepted attendees will get a stipend for their participation.

The two sessions featured during this workshop includes:
“Photographing Darker Skin Tones” and “Nonviolent Language in Photography”

Thank you for coming by to visit the BOOM / Radiant Hall Studios resident artists at the downtown Radiant Hall location.

Over the past weekend we held our second Carnegie Prize Club event at Carnegie Museum of Art.

The outing featured photographer Eric Gyamfi offering many discussion points and thoughtful interactions while reviewing the work of Teenie Harris, Eric’s installation as part of the International, had attendees talk about their earliest photo taking experiences, looking at photography from the lens of accessibility, where the resources and equipment come from, and more.

We thank Eric, Delaney, Liz and Dana for another special afternoon in the museum and look forward to our next trip!

On September 19, Assemble is throwing Unicorn Palooza, a one-of-a-kind celebration of Assemble's 15 years of creativity, play, and community, and we’re looking for local creatives to help make the night magical. Take ‘The Long Walk’ in nature through art!

When was the last time you slowed down? A new exhibit of landscape paintings by Darrell Kinsel at The Frick Environmental Center in Pittsburgh’s Frick Park invites visitors to examine “the quiet spaces that exist beyond the pace and noise of everyday life.”

Landscape paintings by Pittsburgh-based multimedia artist DS Kinsel are on display at the Frick Environmental Center in Pittsburgh through September 26.

BOOM Concepts (BOOM_Concepts) and Radiant Hall (Radiant Hall Studios) are pleased to announce Korey Edmonson (Korey Edmonson) and Raymont Youngblood (RaiZArts (Ray's Arts)) as the 2026-2027 resident artists in their ongoing residency partnership.

BOOM Concepts is excited to announce the continuation of our partnership with Radiant Hall to serve as a site for the BOOM Universe Residency program. For the 2026-2027 partnership, the organizations have selected. Korey Edmonson (artist, instructor, and muralist) and Raymont Youngblood, (digital freelance illustrator and comic producer). Both artists will receive a six-month fully subsidized studio space in the recently opened Radiant Hall Downtown Pittsburgh location. The selected artists will also have full access to the roster of BOOM Universe partner organizations to develop their holistic practice. The artists will participate in a structured program focused on providing job opportunities in the field while also serving as a space for skill building, goal setting, and establishing a consistent studio practice.

1 down and 2 more to go! We had fun making a chalk mural with the youth led by Takara Kuwame Kinsel and DeVaughn Rodgers.

The youth also enjoyed coloring, basketball, football, hopscotch, and a few other games. Catch us on the portico on Sunday August 30th for more family friendly fun with the BOOM team.
