The goal of my legislation is simple: strengthen Pittsburgh's financial future by making our budget process more transparent and accountable.

With the City facing a projected deficit of more than $200 million over the next five years, we have some difficult decisions ahead of us. City Council has a responsibility to address these challenges while protecting the services residents rely on.

A series of bills introduced Tuesday to Pittsburgh City Council would mandate regular public meetings discussing city finances, give council more supervision of so-called piggyback contracts and create a dashboard tracking how city credit cards are used. The bills are part of a broader push council....

Proud to join Pittsburgh City Council District 8, City Controller Rachael Heisler and members of City Council earlier today to announce Councilmember Erika Strassburger’s fiscal reforms package.

The way we’ve structured our budgets for years is unsustainable and will take real change and partnership. These reforms will make City government more transparent, accountable and help identify and address problems sooner.

Thank you to Councilmember Strassburger and Anthony Coghill - District 4 for your leadership, commitment and advocacy with these reforms.

Thank you to Mayor Corey O’Connor, City Controller Rachael Heisler, Councilmembers Coghill, Councilmember Barb Warwick, District 5, and the rest of my Council colleagues for joining me today to announce a package of commonsense fiscal reforms for City Government.

These reforms will bring problems to light sooner, tighten control over how the public’s tax dollars are spent, and rebuild trust in our budget figures.

Residents deserve to see how and where their tax dollars are being spent, and I'm grateful for the partnership of everyone working to put our city on sound fiscal ground.

Fun times at the Shadyside House Tour this past weekend, where I got to lead a trolley and share a bit of Shadyside’s history with riders. 🚃 A huge thank you to the host committee, volunteers, hosts, Shadyside Community Partnership, Shadyside Chamber of Commerce and everyone who came out to participate, especially since this event will help support the groups that make this neighborhood so great. Special shout out to Dani Gundlach for spearheading this amazing event and bringing it back for its 41st year!
