The new traffic signal at Centre Avenue and North Dithridge Street is LIVE! This project was fully funded through the Commonwealth's Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) program.

This new signal features:

🚦New black-painted poles that hold the traffic signals
🚦Larger, brighter LED traffic lights with reflective panels behind them to make the signals easier to see
🚦Energy-efficient LED streetlights designed to reduce light shining into the sky and nearby homes
🚦Walk signals with countdown timers, plus buttons that provide an audible signal to help people know when it is safe to cross
🚦Leading Pedestrian Intervals for all crossings
🚦Painted bumpouts and revised signage

Thank you to the Pittsburgh Mobility and Infrastructure for their tireless work on this project!

“People have become accustomed to driving unsafely and with no penalty, and this is hopefully going to change that,” said Strassburger.

Automated red-light cameras are being introduced to some of Pittsburgh’s busiest intersections.

Have you been to the Pitt Bike Cave? 🚲

You've probably walked right past this a hundred times and never knew it was there.

The Pitt Bike Cave is a free, student-run bike shop hidden in the passageway between Posvar Hall and David Lawrence Hall. Free tools. Free help from trained student mechanics. Workshops, group rides, and donated bikes available to anyone.

Not just for Pitt students either. It's open to everyone in Oakland.

Got a bike collecting dust because of a flat tire or a busted chain? Bring it through. Summer hours are Monday through Friday, 12 to 4pm by appointment.

One of Oakland's best kept secrets. Now you know.

Whether you're a driver, transit rider, pedestrian, cyclist or any other road user, we want you to be safe on Pittsburgh's streets.

Today, the City of Pittsburgh launched its Automated Red-Light Enforcement program to strengthen our commitment to Vision Zero and keep our residents, families and neighbors safe on our roads.

Thank you to Pittsburgh City Council District 8 Councilperson Erika Strassburger, City Council and our partners at the Commonwealth for moving this forward and our partners in Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Pittsburgh Mobility and Infrastructure and Verra Mobility for helping to implement this safety program.
