Please join us in celebrating two Healthy Start leaders, Dr. Alexus Brown, Development Manager, and Angela Gressem, Director of Hello Baby Priority, on completing leadership programs through The Advanced Leadership Institute Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business.

Dr. Brown graduated from the Emerging Leaders Program, and Angela graduated from the National Executive Leadership Academy. We are proud to have leaders who continue sharpening their skills, expanding their vision, and bringing that growth back to the work we do every day with families and communities.

We are calling on Black moms in Allegheny County who are passionate about making a difference for Black mothers, children, and families.

This paid opportunity brings together a cohort of Black mothers to build leadership skills, grow in community, and learn more about advocacy, public policy, and how lived experience can help shape systems and solutions.

As a cohort member, you will learn alongside other lived experience experts while gaining tools to support Black maternal, child, and family well-being across Allegheny County.

The PA Black Maternal Health Caucus spearheaded by state Reps. Morgan Cephas, Gina H. Curry, and La’Tasha D. Mayes of Allegheny County is fighting to pass a package of legislation designed to address the Black maternal mortality and morbidity crisis right here in our Commonwealth.

The Pennsylvania MOMNIBUS takes aim at the systemic, intersectional failures that put Black mothers at risk from healthcare access to implicit bias to economic inequity.

We are inviting professionals who work with pregnant and postpartum moms and families to participate in the ADAPT Study AND to share this opportunity with any pregnant or postpartum individuals you support.
We are looking for people in roles such as:
Community health workers
Doulas
Lactation professionals
Maternity care coordinators
Home visitors
Peer supporters
Nurses, social workers, and other family support professionals

The goal of this study is to help co-design a feasible sleep health program that can help reduce postpartum health inequities.
Participation includes a 20–30 minute online survey. Participants will receive:
$25 compensation for completing the survey
AND be entered to receive either a Fitbit or an additional $100
Some participants may also be invited to complete a 45–60 minute follow-up interview for an additional $50.

Our 20th Annual Education Symposium — Maternal and Child Health Across the Life Course: How Stories Become Care, Practice, and Policy; brought together healthcare providers, researchers, advocates, community members, and families at the University of Pittsburgh campus for a day that reminded us exactly why this work matters.
