📣📣Big news!
We’ve received a grant from Norfolk Southern’s Safety First Grant Program!
This funding will help us purchase air monitoring equipment and a calibration station.

We forgot our senior man Ronnie in the first post. Ronnie met Paul Skenes, and ate some delicious BBQ too. Ronnie has been a member for a long long time. He still makes sure to come down for every weekly training where he now enjoys a cup of firehouse coffee generously handed to him in his personal mug while rig checks are completed.

Yesterday afternoon we hosted an event held by Gary Sinise Foundation, Sunbelt Rentals, Operation BBQ Relief, Joined by Pittsburgh Pirates Pitcher Paul Skenes.

Our in-house grant writing committee wrote a grant for two battery-operated hydraulic combi tools, extra batteries, and forcible entry tips totaling over $41,000.Adding these tools to the equipment carried on apparatus will expand our operational capabilities at incidents that require forcible entry, particularly with difficult doors often seen in commercial occupancies that we operate in frequently. Using these tools can be the difference between life or death in the event we are assigned to operate as rapid intervention. These tools are also versatile and can be used in minor auto extrication incidents.

We are grateful for everyone taking time out of their day to make the day special for the firefighters who continue to staff the fire trucks 24/7, 365 days a year.

The food was fantastic, and we really appreciated everyone being there; even that baseball player guy was alright.
