This morning, with heavy hearts, we lost a wonderful man, William “Pappy” Schneider.

Pappy was one of many members who paved the way, and we all look up to. Listening to the stories, laughing, and, of course, the sternness that comes along with making sure we continue to be safe.

He made sure our engines ran, and if there was a problem, he was on it to get them fixed 🔧 right away, once a trucker, always a trucker. He may not have driven our engines for us anymore, but he would still tell us what we were doing wrong.

While washing the engines for a parade, he tapped his cane on the cement in the bay and pointed to where we were missing spots on the old girls. He took pride in them and made sure we did as well. 🚒❤️

Pappy, you will be missed!

Saturday’s project involved cutting pieces for our door prop, which is used for forcible-entry training. (The blue door by our Chief.)

Thanks to our Chief and a couple of our Firefighters (Stephen and Savannah) for taking time out of their day and cutting the 2x4s donated by Home Depot and another donor. We have put a tiny dent in the pieces needed for this training exercise.

A huge Thank You to Danny Welsh for letting us use his table saw.

🚨 Motor Vehicle Crash Response on McKnight Road 🚨

Last evening, Evergreen Volunteer Fire Company responded alongside Ross Township Police Department, Keating FireCompany, Ross West View EMSA, and Ross Township Fire Police- Station 254 to a motor vehicle accident on McKnight Road involving a vehicle that collided with a utility pole.

Fortunately, the driver was able to walk away from the incident without serious injury. Emergency crews worked together to secure the scene, manage traffic, and clear the area while utility companies were dispatched to assess and repair the damaged pole.

This marks another successful multi-agency response to a motor vehicle crash on McKnight Road in just over 24 hours. Incidents like these highlight the strong partnerships between Ross Township’s emergency services and our shared commitment to protecting and serving the community.

As always, this serves as an important reminder to drive safely, stay alert, and remain focused behind the wheel.

Our firefighters, police officers, EMS providers, fire police, and utility partners stand ready 24/7 to assist our citizens when emergencies occur.

🚨 Vehicle Rollover on McKnight Road 🚨

This evening, while en route to scheduled training exercises, Evergreen Fire Company responded to a vehicle rollover accident on McKnight Road.

We were joined on scene by Ross Township Police Department, Berkeley Hills Fire Company, Ross West View EMSA and Ross Township Fire Police- Station 254. Thanks to the quick actions of all responding agencies, the driver was able to self-extricate safely from the vehicle and sustained only minor injuries.

Incidents like this serve as an important reminder that emergency responders must always be ready to answer the call, no matter the circumstances.

The strong partnerships between fire, EMS, police, and fire police agencies throughout Ross Township ensure that help is available at a moment’s notice when our citizens need it most.
