Ahead of Su***de Prevention Month in September, the Brentwood Borough Police Department is proud to announce a new partnership with 𝑂𝑢𝑟 𝐵𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝑅𝑜𝑠𝑒 to help support families following the loss of a loved one to su***de.

𝑂𝑢𝑟 𝐵𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝑅𝑜𝑠𝑒 co-founder Kelleigh Boland visited the department today to deliver care packages that officers can provide to families they encounter following a su***de death.

Kelleigh founded the organization with her mother, Lori Butler, after her brother, Pat Butler, died by su***de in 2020. Their own experience with su***de loss inspired them to create a resource for other families navigating those incredibly difficult first days.

Police officers are often among the first to encounter families following a sudden loss. Through this partnership, our officers will now have an additional way to offer support and connect families with grief resources when they need them most.

Thank you to Kelleigh and 𝑂𝑢𝑟 𝐵𝑙𝑎𝑐𝑘 𝑅𝑜𝑠𝑒 for partnering with our department and helping us better serve the Brentwood community.

WTAE stopped by to talk with Brentwood Borough Police Chief Adam Zeppuhar about the new one-way traffic pattern on West Willock Road and the challenges drivers are having adjusting to the change.

As Chief Zeppuhar reminded drivers today: slow down, pay attention to the new signs and don’t rely on the traffic pattern you’re used to.

The change is part of preparations around the new Brentwood Elementary School — and we appreciate WTAE helping us get the word out!

The new traffic pattern is IN EFFECT. Crews were on site today completing the transition, and new one-way signs are now posted.

DRIVERS: PAY ATTENTION TO ALL POSTED TRAFFIC SIGNS.

Police had to turn around numerous vehicles today after drivers entered West Willock in the wrong direction. Brentwood Borough Police will remain in the area as motorists adjust to the change.

Please slow down, watch the signs and follow the new traffic pattern.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Fake Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office Calls 🚨

Scammers are impersonating Sheriff’s Office deputies and telling victims they have an arrest warrant for missing jury duty or a court appearance. They may sound convincing, use real names, claim you’re under a “gag order,” and pressure you to stay on the phone while demanding thousands of dollars.

Know the warning signs:
• The Sheriff’s Office will NEVER demand payment over the phone to clear a warrant.
• Do NOT send money through Bitcoin or cryptocurrency kiosks, gift cards, Venmo, Zelle, Cash App or similar services.
• Do NOT provide personal or financial information to an unsolicited caller.
• Do NOT let a caller pressure you into staying on the phone while you withdraw or transfer money.

These scams can be extremely convincing — and victims have lost tens of thousands of dollars.

📞 If someone claims you have an Allegheny County warrant, hang up and verify it yourself by calling the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office at 412-350-4700.

If you believe you’ve been targeted, stop any payments immediately and contact local law enforcement.

Please share this warning, especially with family members, friends and neighbors who may be vulnerable to these high-pressure scams.

🚧 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄: 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬

Beginning today, Tuesday, August 18, the new one-way traffic pattern on West Willock Road will go into effect as part of planned traffic and safety improvements near the new Brentwood Elementary School.

Crews are on site installing signage, completing pavement markings and making the necessary traffic signal adjustments. Brentwood Borough Police will help direct traffic as drivers adjust to the new pattern.

⚠️ Please pay close attention to new signs, pavement markings and traffic directions when traveling through the area.

While the new school is now expected to open after the first of the year, the planned roadway improvements are moving forward now so the new traffic pattern is in place well ahead of the school's opening.
