Shortly after 6:30 this morning we were requested for assistance to Baldwin Borough to assist 106 and several other mutual aid companies for a massive water main break. We operated on Ranchview Drive while other companies operated on Colewood. We utilized our 5 inch and several large trash pumps at the source of the break to mitigate water as best we could.

Yesterday we had our annual structural burn session at Butler County Community College. Multiple departments attended. In the morning crews went over how to VEIS, forcible entry, hose line stretches, and SOG assignments. In the afternoon multiple roll in scenarios were ran where crews could put what they just learned into motion.

Thank you to the great group of knowledgeable and passionate instructors for taking time out of their day to be there.

TBT- Our early firefighters in 1947 working with the first engine, a used 1930 Seagrave Pumper during a drill on a Thursday evening. These firefighters were dedicated and worked hard every year to improve Whitehall Fire Company to get us where we are now, We are grateful for the unknown heroes shown in the photo along with many others who are no longer with us. We salute you!

Just cleared 2 vehicle accidents back to back. These unlucky homeowners have had this same wall hit 3 times in the past few years. No major injuries on either call.

This evening Kenneth Siegworth has stepped down from his role as President of Whitehall Fire Company. Ken’s employer is requiring that he relocate from Whitehall to Florida within the coming weeks. For the past 4 years, Ken has taken an active interest in the success and growth of Whitehall Fire Company. In partnership with our Whitehall Fire Company members and public officials, Ken was instrumental in starting a program to ensure Whitehall Fire Company provided adequate staffing for quality fire protection services for all hours of the day. Ken also partnered with other Whitehall Fire Company members by creating additional streams of revenue and prudently investing financial assets to ensure we remain financially solvent for years to come. This was the second time Ken came back to serve Whitehall Fire Company as he was an active member during the mid-late 1980’s before his career took him elsewhere. We will miss Ken and we wish Ken and his wife Kim good health, happiness and success as they move on. We want Ken to know the door is still open for a third stint.

During our monthly meeting Fire Chief Nicholas Price presented Assistant Chief Bryan Pearson and Firefighter Michael Moeslein with Meritorious Conduct Awards. The awards were given as a result of their courage and bravery displayed during a recent call within Whitehall Borough. Thank you Bryan and Mike for upholding the values and traditions of service to others that Whitehall Fire Company was founded upon.

This evening, all 6 of our line officers completed the last class of a 35 hour Command Officer Boot Camp. This class was a multi-day, intensive leadership and command program. The focus was strategic decision-making, tactical command presence, tactical worksheets and company operations.

Thank you to the SHACOG for putting on this class. Congratulations to all the other Officers/Firefighters that completed it as well.

Special thanks to Chiefs Floyd Wise, Nick Sohyda, Kurt Christofel and Brian Kokkila for their leadership during this class.
