✔️Reside within 35 miles of city limits within 6 months of hire
✔️Be able and willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays

We are excited to officially welcome Dutchess, our new therapy dog, to the community!

Dutchess is a German Shepherd and Labradoodle mix, partnered with her handler, Sgt. Clint Weir. Together, they will be serving all three schools in the district, providing comfort, support, and a friendly presence for students and staff.

In addition to working within the schools, Dutchess will also assist during incidents involving children, helping to bring a sense of calm during difficult situations. Her role is an important part of our continued commitment to the safety, well-being, and emotional support of our community.

We would also like to acknowledge that this program was made possible by significant monetary contributions from Whitetail Properties and The Maschhoffs! Thank you for the continued support to the community and the Pittsfield Police Department!!

Today we proudly recognize our School Resource Officers, Sgt. Clint Weir and Officer April Epperson in celebration of National SRO Day. We have the best SRO duo, and it’s not debatable.

Thank you for the positive relationships you build with our students each day. Your commitment to safety, mentorship, and guidance makes a lasting impact far beyond the classroom. You are not only a protector of our schools, but also a trusted role model, counselor, and friend.

We appreciate your dedication, professionalism, and the care you show to our youth and community. Your work does not go unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do.

For immediate release:

The Pittsfield Police Department is pleased to announce the addition of a narcotic canine to the team.

Officer Mackenzie Moore and Canine Maverick recently graduated from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department Canine Academy. K9 Maverick is a three year old Labrador/Malinois mix.

The addition of the canine was made possible in large part through a large donation from Whitetail Properties. On behalf of the City of Pittsfield and the Pittsfield Police Department, we would like to thank Jeff Evans and the crew at Whitetail Properites for helping make this happen! We would also like to thank the Troy, Illinois Police Department for the donation of a police canine kennel for the police car to transport the canine while on duty.

Several attempts have been made this afternoon to pass counterfeit bills at local businesses. Officers are working to identify the suspects. In the meantime, please be extra careful when accepting cash payment. At least one bill passed the marker test. Here is a photo of one of the counterfeit bills from today.

Officers completed fi****ms training today at the Jacksonville Police Department Training Center. The training was put on by Critical Conflict Solutions out of Jacksonville. As always, they put on exceptional training.

Chief Starman was awarded the Co-Top Shot for the class.

Other officers are attending the same training tomorrow. Stay tuned to see if we have any more winners!

Officers attended fi****ms training today at the Jacksonville Police Training Center. Sgt. Barton and Officer Tuley did a great job at instructing and all officers enhanced their skills.

Special thanks for our friends at Jacksonville PD for letting us use their range facility.
