Today, the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office remembers and honors the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Memorial Day is more than the start of summer, it is a solemn day of remembrance for those who gave their lives defending the freedoms we enjoy every day.

We pause to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of our fallen heroes and the families who carry their memory forward. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family and friends today, we encourage everyone to take a moment to remember those who gave everything for our country.

Brotherhood is more than a word in law enforcement and in the military, it is a bond built through sacrifice, loyalty, courage, and standing shoulder to shoulder through life’s hardest moments. It means knowing that no matter the danger, no matter the hour, someone has your back. It is forged in long nights, difficult calls, deployments far from home, and in the shared commitment to serve something greater than ourselves.

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer. It is a solemn reminder of the brave men and women who gave their lives defending our freedoms and protecting others. It is a day to honor the fallen, remember their sacrifice, and reflect on the cost of the freedoms we often take for granted.

Today, we also remember Officer Richard Jaquez, a brother, a protector, and a hero. His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Though gone, his legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the badge he wore with pride, and the brothers and sisters who continue the watch in his honor.

May we never forget those who gave everything in service to others. Their sacrifice is the foundation of our freedom, and their memory will forever remain in our hearts.

Team BCSO was proud to once again collaborate with Williams College through the Inside-Out Program, an incredible educational experience that brings college students and inmates together in a shared classroom setting.

Throughout the course, barriers were broken down as participants engaged in meaningful conversations, shared perspectives, and learned from one another’s life experiences. The program continues to foster understanding, growth, and connection between individuals from very different backgrounds.

At the conclusion of the course, the inmate participants were presented with certificates recognizing their hard work, dedication, and successful completion of the program. We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part in this year’s class and thankful to Williams College for their continued partnership and commitment to education and positive change.

Attention Berkshire County residents:

We have received multiple reports from community members regarding scam phone calls claiming to be from our office. The caller states that there is a warrant for the individual’s arrest and that it can be cleared with a payment totaling $1,000.00.

The phone number appears to originate from Cummington, Massachusetts, and the caller identifies themselves as “Lieutenant Turner.”

Please be advised:
• We do not have a Lieutenant Turner on staff.
• This phone number is not associated with our office.
• We would never call you to notify you of a warrant or request payment over the phone. Law enforcement would address such matters in person.

If you receive a call like this, simply hang up and do not provide any personal or financial information.

Please stay safe and remain vigilant, and consider sharing this post to help spread awareness throughout the community.
