Elizabeth Freeman Center's SAFEPLAN team Rises Together with survivors every day in courthouses across Berkshire County as they navigate the legal system in pursuit of safety and justice.

Senior SAFEPLAN Coordinator Carolina explains for survivors not only in September, but all year long:

"We RISE because asking for protection should never mean navigating the process alone.

We RISE to remind survivors that the courtroom does not belong only to attorneys and judges—their voice belongs there too.

We RISE for every survivor who walks through the courthouse doors unsure of what comes next.

We RISE to provide information, support, and advocacy when the next step feels impossible.

We RISE so survivors do not have to stand alone in the very place where they are asking to be protected."

To join EFC in our work to build a violence-free future, head over to ElizabethFreemanCenter.org/RiseTogether and sign up to walk or fundraise (or both!) with us this September. Registration is free, and the walks are open to all ages, so make it a family event! Don't forget to share what gets you walking with the hashtag , and help us make this the biggest Rise Together yet!

With September just days away, to show our kids and teenagers that the cycle of domestic and s*xual violence can be broken. Together, we can speak out — and step out — to set an example for younger generations of how respect, empathy, and awareness make our community safer for all.

The funds raised during Rise Together support multiple EFC programs specifically for children and teens, from one-on-one counseling for children who have witnessed domestic violence in their own home, to classroom-based healthy s*x and relationship education for young people navigating the complicated path to adulthood in the era of social media.

It's ! At EFC, to make sure no survivor needs to leave behind their four-legged family member when they flee to safety. We work with our friends at Berkshire Humane Society to make sure survivors' pets have a safe place to stay while their owners focus on healing and stability. When we , we can create a safer community for everyone - be they people, or pups.

To join EFC, BHS, and all our partners as we raise funds and awareness to break the cycle of violence, head over to ElizabethFreemanCenter.org/RiseTogether and register to walk with us this September! And don't forget to tell your friends why this work matters to you with the hashtag .
