Did you know that damp, overcast days are GREAT for transplanting seedlings?

That’s just one of the many great things we learned today in our container gardening workshop. And despite the chill, we had fun and everyone went home with a veggies and a smile.

BEAT is having our annual native plant giveaway from the rain garden at our Environmental Leadership & Education Center this Saturday, May 30 – rain or shine!

Stop by anytime from 10 AM to noon to grab a few free native plants to add to your gardens at home to boost biodiversity and uplift pollinators here in Western Massachusetts!

Some of the species we will have are great blue lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica), sweet joe-pye w**d (Eutrochium purpureum), seaside goldenrod (Solidago sempervirens), New England aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae), blue vervain (Verbena hastata), common sneezew**d (Helenium autumnale), Virginia wild rye (Elymus virginicus), and wild bergamot (Monarda fistulosa).

And if you have an abundance of native plants in your garden and would like to share them with others, please feel free to bring them along!
