The Center of Pittsfield

The Center of Pittsfield The Christian Center is the oldest nonprofit human service organization in the Berkshires. Founded in 1892 by parishioners of the First Methodist Church.

The Center exists to nourish, empower, and connect individuals and families by providing compassionate and equitable support, essential resources, and opportunities that strengthen our community, help our neighbors thrive, and improve quality of life. The Christian Center was first known as the Epworth Mission. Following the Great Depression the Epworth Mission developed numerous programs to meet

the social needs of the day and hired a full-time director. The Pittsfield Area Council of Churches underwrote the cost of these activities.

Crew runs September 22 - November 12, Tuesdays- Thursdays after school until 5:30 PM. Transportation provided.

To "glean" is

to gather slowly and laboriously, bit by bit.

to gather food left behind after a harvest

to clear (a field, orchard, etc.) of leftover produce.

Berkshire Bounty began as a gleaning organization and this time of year, we stay close to our roots. Volunteers collected 700 lbs of the most beautiful peaches from a property owner last week for distribution to feeding assistance programs. Interested in joining?

We’re still smiling from an incredible Community Day! We wanted to share a few more photos from last Saturday and celebrate the wonderful people who made the day so special.

A VERY special thank you to all of our amazing volunteers! Your time, energy, and willingness to jump in wherever needed helped make the day a huge success. From setting up and serving food to helping with games, prizes, and everything in between—you made a difference!

We are so grateful for everyone who came out, participated, laughed, played, ate, and connected with their neighbors. Community Day was truly a reflection of what The Center is all about: Connect. Nourish. Empower. ❤️
