Honorable Scott Strom Former State Representative for Clinton, Detroit and Pittsfield.

Why hasn't Pine Tree Power put out the districts for the elected board seats?

Maybe they don't want us to know that southern Maine will be running the grid for the entire state.

Congratulations to my friend Representative Billy Bob Faulkingham on becoming the new House Minority Leader.

Congratulations Senator Stewart.

Congratulations Senator Stewart.

Trey Stewart of Presque Isle was chosen as minority leader on Thursday, after Republicans failed to take a majority in the state Senate on Tuesday.

To the voters in Burnham, Clinton, Pittsfield and Troy I hope when you go to the polls tomorrow you will support Representative Amanda Collamore for a second term in the Maine House of Representatives. She did an incredible job in her first term. I can't even begin to explain the great comments I've heard from her fellow Representatives about just how thorough she is in committe when it comes to working on legislation to make sure it's what's best for Maine. I've had many conversations with Amanda and can tell you she absolutely has Maine and her constituents best interest in mind at all times in Augusta.

Pittsfield's public library could end up slashing its hours, having consequences for residents that use the space for more than just books.

This morning I contacted the Directors of the Maine School Safety Center to hopefully set up a meeting. I want to discuss creating a School Marshall program based on Maine's existing Judicial Marshall program.

Judicial Marshalls are trained at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy and provide security and safety to courthouses, Judges and courtrooms.

I am hopeful that we can adapt this model for our schools where a School Marshall can be on site daily working under a school district Resource Officer. The staffing desicions would be made locally by school boards and tax payers. The goal is professional, affordable and long term security at Maine schools.

This just an idea right now and I look forward to working with stakeholders to build this into something that will work. On that end, I also registered for the School Safety Summit in June to learn more on the subject and network with law enforcement and school administrators.

We need to seek pragmatic and sustainable solutions for this problem.

"Sen. Susan Collins already voted in favor of passing a narrower Senate version, and I encourage her to keep up that momentum and advocate for its forward movement."

The New England Clean Energy Connect project may still be built. Court hearings this coming week on the constitutionality of the referendum.

On Tuesday, the Maine Supreme Judicial Court will hear arguments challenging a November referendum to ban the $1 billion NECEC project, among other issues.

Great job Mr. Ortiz.

Great job Mr. Ortiz.

Happy Monday! In honor of Teachers Appreciation Week this week, our first Pay It Forward story of the day comes from Maine Central Institute where Amanda Riendeau, Deposit Operations Clerk, chose to pay it forward by making a donation to a very special teacher who pays it forward daily to his students. “Mr. Ortiz is the JMG teacher at MCI. He has an amazing attitude, is always smiling and always there for the kids. One of the duties that he took on is the “Husky Closet”. It is a room that has clothing, backpacks, shoes, bathroom supplies, school supplies and more. It’s free for the students to go to and get some items that they may not be getting from home or be able to afford. In his JMG classes he teaches life skills like how to fill out job applications, college applications, teaches them cooking from different cultures and buys the supplies so they can learn to cook for themselves and try new foods. I told him that it was up to him on how he wants to apply the funds, whether it’s for more cooking lessons or more supplies for the Husky Closet. I know he will do what he thinks is best.”

To all of our teachers out there, happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

Many elected officials in Augusta argued that these solar bills allowing reimbursement at above market rates were going to let those cost be pushed onto all ratepayers. The other side just didn't care. And now many of these same politicians who pushed these policies through want to take control of our two largest power companies.

There’s a good chance many of the hundreds of projects that have been proposed in the three years since Maine opened the door to community solar won’t be built.
