Today, members of the Bushnell’s Basin Fire Department participated in the 3rd Battalion Training Day at the Perinton Joint Training Facility.

Training alongside neighboring departments provides an excellent opportunity to sharpen skills, build teamwork, and strengthen the relationships that are critical when responding to emergencies throughout our community. Through hands-on evolutions and realistic scenarios, firefighters worked together to enhance their knowledge and preparedness.

A special thank you to everyone who helped organize and facilitate today’s training. Continuous training is essential to ensuring our members are ready to provide the highest level of service when our community calls.

🚒HAZMAT RESPONSE🚒

This morning, the BBFD was dispatched to a reported rollover MVA with people trapped. Engine 312 and 3C-21 first arrived with a vehicle on its side. Crews assisted removing 2 patients out of the vehicle and transferred care to the ambulance.
Due to the large amount of used cooking oil that had leaked from the vehicle, a Level 0 Haz Mat was declared. Representatives from the Monroe County Fire Bureau and NYS Department of Environmental Control responded to assist with mitigation of the leak. The scene was turned over to MCSO and NYS DEC after being on scene for multiple hours.
Thank you to everyone that assisted

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, let us also reflect on the true meaning of the day and pay tribute to those who gave everything for our freedom.

From all of us at the Bushnell’s Basin Fire Department, we thank and remember our fallen heroes. 🇺🇸

At 5:45 a.m., VFD was dispatched to a structure fire, along with mutual aid from City of Canandaigua Fire Department, Bushnell's Basin Fire Department, and Farmington Volunteer Fire Association. Crews discovered a bathroom exhaust fan had caught fire and was extinguished by the homeowner.
Bathroom exhaust fans cause an estimated 1,200 to 1,500 residential fires annually, primarily due to overheating motors, accumulated dust/lint, and faulty wiring. These fires often occur when fans are left running for extended periods. VFD reminds our residents to regularly clean their fans, replace worn out or old fans, listen for odd sounds, and do not leave fans running unattended.
