Tonight was a truly special evening at the Town of Pittsford Summer Concert as we celebrated the 80th anniversary of the Pittsford Fire Department Band.
To honor this remarkable milestone, PFD Vice President Todd Long presented the musicians with a proclamation celebrating their lasting legacy. The band’s dedication was further recognized with a Supervisor’s Commendation from Town Supervisor William Smith.
For 80 years, since 1946, the band has generously shared its time and talent to keep a beloved community tradition alive—leading our department in parades and filling our summers with music. We are so proud of their legacy.
We also want to give a quick nod to firefighter Bob Kremens who protects our community and wows us on the saxophone!

At the Pittsford Fire Department, our greatest asset isn’t our trucks, firehouses, or equipment—it is our people. Last weekend, the department gathered to express their deepest gratitude to the members for their unwavering dedication to keeping our community safe.

The department was privileged to honor several landmark milestones. Bill Willard was recognized for over 50 years of proud dedicated service, alongside Ed Jeffries and Mark Farrell, who have each dedicated more than 25 years to the department.

A special thank went to Thomas Heagerty Jr. for his leadership from 2024 to 2025 as President of the department. Also recognized were firefighters Adam Khalil, Peter Goodman, Tamil Devendiran, Joann Long, Taelor Kirkebye and retired District Administrator/honorary member Robert Ockenden for going above and beyond. Thank you all for your outstanding service and for making our department stronger!

Together and Proud! On Friday evening, members of the Pittsford Fire Department proudly joined forces with the seven other departments of the 3rd Battalion to march in the Farmington Parade. In a strong showing of support for the Farmington Fire Department, the Battalion deployed over 70 personnel, 3 marching bands, and multiple pieces of equipment. These departments serve as our dependable mutual aid partners in times of need, making this event a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our shared dedication and enjoy some camaraderie.
