⚠ TRAFFIC ALERT--OAK STREET FOR EMERGENCY RAILROAD REPAIRS ⚠

Norfolk Southern and PennDOT has alerted Pittston Township regarding emergency railroad repairs on the bottom tracks on Oak Street that will begin on November 2nd, 2026.

Due to the emergency repairs by Norfolk Southern, Oak Street will be CLOSED in both directions beginning at the second entrance of Coca Cola to the entrance of Sunrise Drive beginning on Monday, November 2nd, 2026 at 7am.

These repairs are expected to take place for approximately 3 days.

Anticipated detour maps are shown in the image below.

Please be advised that this is a railroad project being completed by Norfolk Southern. Any questions or concerns about the project should be directed to Norfolk Southern directly.

CAPTURING THE MOMENT: After the rain late this afternoon just after 6 PM, our EMS crew captured a very impressive Mother Nature display of low level rays of sunshine lighting up the tree line behind the Bryden Street Park near our EMS HQ. And within 5 minutes, it was gone. Check it out!

There were a few minor station property improvements done at the PTAA recently. As you know, Bryden Street was repaved and there was installed a new asphalt curb, which created a big empty area behind it that simply did not look right and could even have been a trip hazard. We decided it needed to be filled in, got two tons of topsoil donated, delivered. The EMS staff moved, leveled the soil, and planted grass along the newly created asphalt curb and it is GROWING. It does look much better and safer!

And our street EMS sign wood post structure and landscaping timbers were getting pretty weathered and worn looking, so they received some TLC with a fresh coat of paint. Curb appeal is important!

Doing these projects were our staff EMS providers Denise G; Nathacha M, & Don H Sr. Yes, we keep busy. When we are not doing 911 calls, we are looking around for things to do and improve!

PERSONNEL UPDATE - Ms. Natalie Charles has completed her orientation with our EMS agency and is cleared to be on as a staff of two providers. Congratulations to Natalie!

2027 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE - The brochure details have been finalized and are going to print. And the membership subscription will remain the same for 2027 as in the past year. The brochures are schedule to arrive in residents mailboxes in mid November.

AND COMING SOON! The PTAA is planning a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT... STAY TUNED!

The PTAA Board of Directors meetings have resumed for the 2026 / 2027 business cycle. And with this, there are a few announcements to make!

1) The Board of Directors appointed a new EMS Chief of Operations - Mr. Ralph Dixon. Mr. Dixon is a long term EMS provider, having many decades with the PTAA in various capacities. In this role, he will oversee many operational issues and contribute as an Executive Committee member. CONGRATULATIONS RALPH!

2) We also have a new Deputy Chief - Adrienne Spangenberg. Adrienne served as our Lieutenant and received this new assignment in the PTAA. She has over 4 years with our EMS and will be assisting with various daily operational duties. CONGRATULATIONS ADRIENNE!

2) The board group elected Carrie Alaimo as our new Executive Committee Corporate Secretary. Former Secretary Piera Marotto, vacated the position and will remain on as a board member. THANK YOU PIERA, and WELCOME CARRIE in your new role.

3) Accepted as a new board member and attending her first board meeting was Lisa Zurek. Lisa is a Suscon area resident and was a board member years ago. WELCOME LISA!

4) Business donations were acknowledged from the following corporations. Boden, Ball Corporation, and Pennsy Supply. Collectively, these donations totaled just over $2,000. THANK YOU to these businesses for their business philanthropy charitable contributions!

5) The 2027 Membership Campaign will be coming soon! And the membership subscription request will remain the same as in past years, with the same member benefits! Making the Pittston Township Ambulance membership subscription the best value EMS subscription in the area.

The business subscription mailer will have a different look. Businesses will receive a similar four page color brochure as the resident mailing, along with a scale of subscription amounts based on the employee count.
