BREAKING NEWS!! THE PRESSURE IS BOILING OVER.

County Supervisor Lori Parlin is now publicly calling out Mosquito Fire District directors over misinformation and delays surrounding the shared services agreement with Garden Valley Fire.

Parlin says both districts had reached an agreement—but a previously rejected issue was reopened, preventing the proposal from moving forward.

How much longer can Mosquito residents afford to wait for leadership to stop the delays and deliver progress?

It was an honor to gather with firefighters, friends, and community members at the Recognition BBQ celebrating Chief Edward Dwyer and his dedicated service to our community.

The event also commemorated the Little Free Library purchased by the Mosquito Firefighters Association in 2021 with generous donations from community members. We’re excited that it will soon be installed at the station for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you, Chief Dwyer, for your leadership and commitment—and thank you to the Mosquito Fire Safe Council for supporting the firefighters in hosting this special event.

Honoring Mosquito Fire Chief Edward Dwyer

Before Thursday’s Mosquito Fire Protection District Board meeting, join us in recognizing the extraordinary service of Fire Chief Edward Dwyer—whose career spans more than 45 years of emergency response, command leadership, paramedicine, training, and disaster service.

Chief Dwyer has served Mosquito through some of its most demanding years, leading emergency preparedness, operations, staffing, strategic planning, fiscal oversight, and regional coordination in one of the Divide’s most challenging wildland-urban-interface environments.

During his earlier tenure as Mosquito Fire Chief, he helped establish dependable daily paramedic and Advanced Life Support capability for the community while advancing evacuation planning, safe-refuge planning, and emergency-readiness coordination.

His service reflects a lifetime of courage and leadership—from rescue actions during the Loma Prieta earthquake and Oakland Hills Fire to deployments connected with Hurricane Katrina, the September 11 response, and other major disasters. His recognitions include the California State Firefighter Medal of Valor, a Governor’s Award, the FEMA Civil Service Award, and the California Firefighter Purple Heart.

Please join neighbors, firefighters, family, and friends for a BBQ celebration with burgers and refreshments in appreciation of Chief Dwyer’s service to Mosquito.
