As Foster Care Awareness Month comes to a close, these statistics highlight the ongoing need for support and advocacy for children in foster care.

Nearly 400,000 youth are in foster care nationwide. Around 117,000 are waiting to be adopted. Up to 65% of siblings in foster care are separated due to placement limitations, and more than 15,000 young people age out of care each year without permanent families.

At CASA El Dorado, we are serving a portion of these children and families every day. While we recognize the lives being impacted, we know there is still much work to do.

We are incredibly grateful for our community of supporters and for the 76+ CASA volunteers who show up as caring, consistent adults for children navigating uncertainty. Your commitment creates stability, hope, and belonging when it is needed most.

Together, we are changing stories but until every child has a safe, permanent, and loving home, our work continues.

CASA in the Community 💙

We’re excited to be out in the community this weekend at two great local events!

Join us Saturday, May 30 at the Catalyst Community Kids Expo Tahoe at Lake Tahoe Community College from 10 AM – 2 PM for a fun family event filled with community resources, activities, performances, food, and more!

We’ll also be at the Hangtown Car Show presented by the Placerville Lions Club at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville from 9 AM – 3 PM celebrating community, connection, and all things classic cars 🚗

Honored to be in the room as a 2026 grantee at this inspiring celebration hosted by Tahoe Women’s Community Fund last night.💙

Congratulations to TWCF on awarding $142,500 in grants to 16 nonprofit organizations for 2026 while also recognizing the incredible impact of the 2025 grantees and the meaningful work being done across our community. Hearing the stories and accomplishments from last year’s recipients was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people come together to invest in local change.

We were proud to witness a major milestone of TWCF, which has now surpassed $11 million invested back into the Tahoe community. 🎉

This Memorial Day weekend, CASA El Dorado honors and remembers the courageous servicemen and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten, and we hold deep gratitude for the freedoms their bravery protects.

In observance of Memorial Day, CASA El Dorado will be closed beginning Friday at noon through Monday. We will reopen Tuesday.

For many youth in foster care, mental health challenges are shaped by trauma, instability, and uncertainty. At CASA El Dorado, our advocates provide consistent support, trusted connection, and a voice for children who need someone in their corner.

Advocacy is more than showing up in court — it’s helping children feel seen, valued, supported, and never alone. 💚
