Wildfire doesn't stop at property lines. Neither do we.

Today EID welcomed the ACWA to Sly Park, together with Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) and the El Dorado & Georgetown Divide Resource Conservation Districts (RCD), to walk the ground and talk through All Hands, All Lands — the approach that treats forest health and water supply as the same job.

The vegetation work SPI and the RCD do in and around Sly Park is why this watershed can take a bad fire year. That's not a small thing, and it doesn't happen without partners like these.

Thanks to SPI and the RCD for the partnership, and to ACWA for going to bat for El Dorado County water.

⚠️Water Service Announcement – Placerville

Our crews will be performing repairs to the water delivery system starting Monday, Aug. 31 at 9 p.m., with work expected to wrap up by Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 7 a.m.

Affected areas:
📍 Mother Lode Drive
📍 Sundance Trail
📍 Forni Road (south of Missouri Flat Road)
📍 Business district north of Highway 50

Visit our webpage for a detailed map of the impacted areas: https://www.eid.org/home/showpublisheddocument/19049/639233592020400000

This may affect approximately 584 customers, who may experience low water pressure or a temporary loss of service.

What you can do to prepare:
💧 Draw enough water for essential needs before 9 p.m. Monday
💧 Conserve water during the water outage
🚫 If your water looks cloudy or discolored once service is restored, do not drink it or use it for cooking or hygiene until it runs clear
🚰 Let an outside tap run for a few minutes after service is restored to clear out any air or discoloration

Repairs are weather-dependent and timing may shift. Affected customers have already been notified by phone/email.

Thank you for your patience as our crews work to keep the water system running smoothly!

📢Update: The system will go offline at 4 p.m., one hour earlier than previously anticipated.

🏕️Big news for Sly Park campers!

Starting Aug. 17, reservations at Sly Park Recreation Area/Jenkinson Lake move to a brand-new online system — and it's built to make your camping life easier.

Here's what's changing:
⛺ Change or cancel your reservation online, anytime — no need to contact EID recreation staff during business hours
⛺ Explore campsite areas with fuller details before you book
⛺ See campsite availability all in one place

But you’ll need to pardon our dust before the new reservation system comes online. We need to shut down the entire reservation system from 5 p.m. on Aug. 13 to 9 a.m. on Aug. 17 in order to transfer all existing reservations from the previous system to the new one.

🔧 Precision Work: Inside Our Plant Mechanics' Day 🔧

Every day, our plant mechanics show up to do the work that keeps our whole community safe. They fix pumps, maintain equipment, and solve problems most of us never even see. They also take pride in repairing equipment whenever possible instead of replacing it, which helps keep costs down for our community. Because of their work, clean water comes out of your tap.

That's the work of our plant mechanics: steady, skilled, resourceful, and always keeping things running. We see you, and we appreciate you. 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️

Next time you turn on your faucet, remember there's a whole team behind that simple moment. 🙌

Swipe through to see them in action, from routine maintenance to hands-on repairs.

🚛💧 Meet one of the hardest-working trucks in our wastewater system

When it comes to preventing sewer backups, one of our most valuable equipment is the Vactor truck.

Think of it as a giant pressure washer and vacuum for underground sewer pipes. It blasts away grease, roots, sediment, and other debris with high-pressure water, then immediately vacuums the material out of the pipe before it can cause blockages or overflows.

Recently, EID crews used the Vactor truck to hydro clean sewer lines at the intersection of Fowler Lane and Pleasant Valley Road in Diamond Springs as part of our preventive maintenance program.

While this work happens underground and often goes unnoticed, it plays a vital role in helping protect public health, extend the life of our infrastructure, and keep wastewater flowing reliably for our community.

🚧EID crews recently completed work along Forni Road, connecting two distribution water lines to help maintain reliable water service during El Dorado County’s Diamond Springs Parkway 1B Project. 💧

The Diamond Springs Parkway 1B Project requires shutting down EID’s 18-inch Diamond Springs water main to relocate a portion of the pipeline. By completing this connection ahead of the County's work, EID is helping to minimize customer outage and maintain reliable water service throughout construction while also strengthening the overall water system.

It’s another example of the planning and coordination that happens behind the scenes to keep water flowing while important community projects move forward. 🤝

💧 July is ! 💧

Our local lakes provide opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking, camping, and creating memories outdoors. They also support healthy ecosystems and play an important role in our community’s water supply.

One way we can help protect these valuable resources is by preventing the spread of invasive golden mussels. These tiny mussels can harm aquatic ecosystems, damage boats and water infrastructure, and affect the reliable delivery of drinking water.

Before visiting a lake:

🚤 Clean, drain, and dry your watercraft and equipment
🚤 Never move water, plants, or animals between waterways
🚤 Follow all inspection, tagging, and boat-launch requirements
🚤 Check current restrictions before heading out

Every action matters. Together, we can help keep our local lakes healthy, beautiful, and protected for generations to come.
