From designing creative food truck concepts to plating restaurant-quality dishes, students in Dianne Goldman’s Culinary class brought their final exam to life in the most delicious way possible.

As part of their culminating project, student teams created themed food truck restaurants inspired by cuisines from around the world, complete with custom menus, presentations, and signature dishes for judges to taste and score. From tacos and Asian-inspired cuisine to French and German dishes, each group showcased incredible creativity, teamwork, presentation skills, and culinary talent.

The level of detail, professionalism, and flavor was truly impressive. These students didn’t just prepare food, they created full dining experiences.

History, craftsmanship, and hands-on learning came together in an incredible way at El Dorado High School.

Students in Advanced Wood Technology, led by Trades and Industry Teacher Lance Gunnersen, recently completed a replica 1850s Studebaker wheelbarrow for the City of Placerville. Inspired by one of John Studebaker’s original wheelbarrows preserved at the Placerville museum, the project highlights the region’s Gold Rush history and the craftsmanship that started right here in our community.

Using locally donated oak timber and measurements from the historic design, students spent years bringing this project to life before presenting it at a recent city council meeting. The wheelbarrow will soon be installed near City Hall for the community to enjoy.

Thank you to the student team who made it possible: Cole Madison, Gatti Noriega Andie, Lukas Pagan, and Caleb Lorio.

Two outstanding students from El Dorado Union High School District were recently honored at the Girl Scouts Heart of Central California Gold Award Ceremony for projects making a meaningful impact in our community. The Girl Scout Gold Award is the organization’s highest honor and is widely considered the equivalent of the Eagle Scout distinction.

Lauren Dorrough created a permanent activity and resource space for senior citizens in Cameron Park, while Kaitlin Fuller developed a Deaf Awareness curriculum now available across EDUHSD high schools.

We are proud of their leadership, service, and commitment to making a difference.
