Celebrating the artistry of Tribal Member Patricia Resultay, creator of “Water Bowl of Life,” the featured artwork for the 32nd annual Lumáy Big Time.

Patricia’s inspiration came from what the summer season means to her: Big Time, harvesting tule, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) department constructing tule boats, the snow melting, and plants in full bloom. She began the piece in pencil and brought it to life with acrylic paint pens.

Patricia began drawing in sixth grade and has continued creating throughout her life. She credits art workshops offered by the Tribe’s Exhibits & Collection Center with giving her renewed motivation and a welcoming space to create alongside her family.

“I want to give credit to my father for helping me name the art piece. I couldn’t think of what to title it,” she recalled. When she showed him the artwork, he said, “Water Bowl of Life.” She knew that was it.

Thank you, Patricia, for sharing your artistry and creating a piece that honors the season, the water, family and the traditions that continue to bring our community together.
