Join in on our Corn Carnival fun by getting your free seed corn at the Plain City Municipal Building!
🌽 Think you can grow the biggest, tallest, or most beautiful corn in Plain City?🌾
Put your green thumb to the test in our Corn Growing Competition! This fun contest is part of the Plain City Corn Carnival that will take place in Uptown Plain City on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
✅ It's not too late to get started—corn planted in June can still produce impressive stalks and ears by September with the right care and growing conditions.
Pick up free corn seed! To help residents get started, free corn seed packets are available at the Plain City Municipal Building during regular business hours.
Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
🌽 Tallest Corn Stalk
🌽 Largest Ear of Corn
🌽 Best Corn-Themed Landscape Display
The Best Corn-Themed Landscape Display category will be judged at participating homes during the week leading up to the Corn Carnival. Participants will be asked to register their address for judging by emailing [email protected].
For the Tallest Corn Stalk and Largest Ear of Corn categories, entries must be brought to the Corn Carnival on Saturday, September 12. Corn stalks and ears must be delivered to the Main Stage area no later than 12:00 PM to be eligible for judging and prizes.
🌱 Corn Planting Tips
• Plant corn in a location that receives full sun and has rich, well-draining soil.
• Plant 2–3 seeds per hole, spaced 8–12 inches apart, and 1–2 inches deep.
• Water regularly, especially during hot and dry weather.
🧑🌾 Whether you're a seasoned gardener or planting corn for the very first time, this is a fun way to celebrate Plain City's agricultural roots and be part of our community's America 250 festivities.
Pick up your free seeds, start growing, and we'll see you at the Corn Carnival!
