🔥Important Firework Safety Message from Plain City Fire Department
With the 4th of July approaching and extremely dry conditions across our area, we want to remind everyone to celebrate safely. We’ve already responded to several brush fires this year, and they are spreading extremely fast due to the current fire danger. One spark can quickly turn into a major incident.
Due to statewide restrictions and high wildfire risk, personal fireworks are currently prohibited in unapproved areas through July 5. However, the Fire Chief and Mayor have designated specific safe areas within Plain City where fireworks may be legally discharged. These designated areas have been approved by the Mayor and the Fire Chief and are detailed on the attached flyer.
Please review the flyer carefully before using any fireworks. Fireworks are only allowed in the approved dedicated areas during legal discharge times. Using them elsewhere puts our community at serious risk.
Helpful Note:
Water sources are available at all the baseball fields for your safety.
Firework Safety Tips:
• Keep a hose or water source nearby at all times.
• Fully soak used fireworks in water before disposal. Do not put recently discharged fireworks in the garbage without them being thoroughly soaked.
• Never allow children to handle fireworks.
• Maintain a safe distance from homes, vehicles, dry grass, fields, and structures.
• If it’s windy, hold off—conditions can change rapidly.
Let’s protect our neighbors, homes, and firefighters this holiday season. If you see a fire or unsafe fireworks use, call 911 immediately.
