Thank you, thank you, thank you to every single person who came out to attend our Memorial Day parade and ceremony in the rain at Veterans Memorial Park today. This year’s event had very special meaning to me as we paid tribute to Cindy M. Beaudoin, this being the thirty fifth year since her passing in 1991 during Operation Desert Storm. At just 19 years old, Cindy paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, and in rain, or any other weather, deserved this recognition and remembrance today, so again, THANK YOU to all who came out. ❤️ I know Cindy’s family is grateful.
Thank you to William L. Mercier Post 5446 (Plainfield VFW) for hosting refreshments after the ceremony, along with Godeau-McMahon-Lapierre American Legion Post 91, and Cindy M. Beaudoin AMVETS Post 47. Thank you to all the other volunteers on the Memorial Day parade Committee, who worked together to make this event possible, but especially to Jeffrey DeClerck, Jerry Day, Ian Day, Pam Jones, Ed Bergman, Bill Landry, Sherry Wozniak and First Selectman, Kevin Cunningham. Special thank you to Bob Jones and his brother, plus the guys from the Plainfield Highway Department who helped set up tents and chairs this morning. Thank you Plainfield Fire Company #1, Plainfield Highway Department and the Plainfield Police for road support and traffic control. Thank you to Ben and Krista Dodge and Michael and Kristen Surprenant for help with registration up at the school. Thank you to troops from the Army National Guard Unit 248th for marching and participating in today’s parade. Thank you to Heather Somers for your attendance and special words at our ceremony. Thank you to ALL participants, whether you marched, participated by riding on a float, or just came out to the parade, we appreciate you all! Shout out to PCMS 6th grade student, Isabella Roy, who won this year’s essay contest.
Cindy’s memorial stone is now in a place of honor, and we couldn’t be more grateful. ❤️
Mark your calendars for next year, folks: Sunday, May 30, 2027, rain or shine! 🇺🇸
