The Town of Plainfield is pleased to announce the hiring of John “Drew” Thomas as its new Director of Risk Management. In this role, Drew will work alongside the Assistant Town Manager of Support Services to support departments and initiatives across the organization, helping ensure the Town continues to operate safely, efficiently, and effectively.

Prior to joining the Town, Drew worked in personal lines insurance as a Client Advocate, helping individuals and families navigate risk and protect what matters most to them. His professional experience also includes several years as a personal trainer at both national fitness centers and the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation & Aquatic Center, where he helped clients achieve their health and performance goals.

Drew earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Indiana University Indianapolis, with an emphasis in Nutrition and Dietetics.

As Director of Risk Management, Drew is responsible for identifying, assessing, and addressing risks that impact the Town’s operations, employees, residents, and visitors. Effective risk management plays a critical role in local government by helping protect public resources, reduce liability, promote workplace and community safety, and ensure the continuity of essential services.

Drew is committed to fostering a culture of accountability, preparedness, and safety while supporting the Town’s mission to remain one of Indiana’s best places to live, work, and visit.

Please join us in welcoming Drew to the Town of Plainfield team.

With severe weather expected later today, now is the time to make sure you're prepared. Have emergency supplies readily available, including food, water, medications, and other essential items. Make sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, warnings, and emergency notifications, and always follow guidance from local law enforcement, emergency management officials, and first responders.

As weather conditions change, remain vigilant, stay informed, and check in on family members, neighbors, and friends—especially those who may need additional assistance. Taking a few simple steps now can help keep our community safe when severe weather strikes.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Public Safety Day on Saturday! Hosted by the Plainfield Police Department, this annual event provides a great opportunity for residents to connect with members of our Police Department, Fire Territory, Communications Center (911), and many of our state and county public safety partners.

We appreciate everyone who came out to learn more about the agencies that work together every day to keep our community safe.

In Plainfield, we're fortunate to have dozens of law enforcement officers serving in our community each day, and today, we had the opportunity to celebrate a major investment in their future.

Town Council members and staff joined Governor Mike Braun, the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board, and Indiana Law Enforcement Academy leadership for the ribbon cutting of ILEA's new police training facility, part of a $107 million investment in law enforcement training across Indiana.

The state-of-the-art facility includes a 360-bed dormitory, physical tactics training space, classrooms, and a scenario village designed to provide realistic, hands-on training opportunities for officers.

We are proud to be home to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and grateful for the dedication of the men and women who work every day to keep our communities safe.

Last night, Plainfield Utilities hosted the first Wastewater Plant Tour of the summer, giving residents a behind-the-scenes look at how the Town’s wastewater is treated. Attendees followed the journey of the water through the treatment process and learned about the important work happening every day to keep our community running.

If you missed this tour, you'll have another opportunity to attend on Wednesday, September 16. We hope to see you there!
