TRAFFIC ALERT: The new roundabout at Township Line Road and Shady Lane will require additional work before it can safely open to traffic. As a result, the intersection will not reopen ahead of Labor Day weekend as originally anticipated. At this time, we expect the intersection to reopen to traffic the week of September 21.

We understand this delay is frustrating and apologize for the continued inconvenience. We appreciate your patience and will continue to provide updates as we get closer to reopening the intersection.

The Town of Plainfield is pleased to announce the promotion of Shawn O'Neill as its new Building Commissioner, following the retirement of longtime Building Commissioner Ed Rudolphi, who faithfully served the community for 37 years.

Shawn brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role. He attended Purdue University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Building and Construction Management. His background includes more than a decade of experience in residential construction as a builder, estimator, and Director of Internal Operations, as well as several years of experience as a commercial construction Project Manager.

Before joining the Town of Plainfield in March 2025 as a Building Inspector, Shawn spent 10 years as a private building inspector and inspector manager. During his time with the Town, he has performed permit request plan reviews, released permits, and conducted residential, commercial, and industrial code inspections.

Shawn and his wife, Kali, have been married for 27 years and have two grown sons. They have called Hendricks County home for nearly 20 years.

As Plainfield continues to grow, Shawnโ€™s experience in construction, inspections, and building management will help guide the Town through continued development while ensuring projects meet the standards that help keep our community safe and thriving.

Please join us in congratulating Shawn on his promotion and welcoming him into this important leadership role!

Reminder: Tomorrow night, the Town will host a Public Information Meeting: Quaker/CR 750 S Roundabout. The meeting will be an Open House format in the Town Council Chambers from 6-7pm and will include a brief presentation at 6:15 pm. If you canโ€™t attend, all the information presented will also be posted online.

Speaking of roundabouts, the new roundabout at Township Line Road and Shady Lane is on schedule to open to traffic just in time for Labor Day. Recent heavy rains have affected construction, but the contractor is working diligently to complete the work ahead of the holiday weekend. Please continue to watch as we get closer to any detailed updates.

Town staff also recently sent letters to residents along Stafford Road about an exciting project planned for 2027 to improve pedestrian facilities along the corridor from Center Street to the Plainfield-Guilford Township Library. The dated infrastructure along this important stretch of roadway has been prioritized for upgrade by the Town Council to improve connectivity to the Townโ€™s parks, Plainfield Middle School, and library, and to improve conditions for drivers at the intersection of Stafford-Simmons-Gary Drive. More information to follow about this important project, as we work through the current process to secure the necessary expanded public right-of-way for the proposed improvements.
