🎉Please join us in congratulating Larry Girdler on his promotion to Correctional Sergeant. 🎉
Beginning Sunday October 11th, he will be assigned to H Bracket. As he transitions to his new responsibilities, please offer him your full support and assistance to help ensure his success. Mr. Girdler began his career at Plainfield Correctional Facility in July 2000 as a Correctional Officer. He was promoted to Correctional Sergeant in 2003 and Correctional Lieutenant in 2018, serving in that role until 2021 before transitioning to various roles within DWE. His experience across custody leadership and DWE brings a broad understanding of facility operations to his current position.

A 2019 graduate of the Leadership Academy and a 2022 graduate of the Experienced and Emerging Leadership (EEL) program, Mr. Girdler has continued to develop his leadership and training skills. He is a certified trainer in the preservice curriculum, CPR/First Aid, Security Skills, and Personal Protection.

Mr. Girdler is also a retired United States Army veteran with 21 years of honorable service, including multiple deployments to Iraq. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends and looks forward to retirement.

Please congratulate Mr. Girdler and offer your support as he takes on his new role.

IYC Plainfield was fortunate enough to be invited back to the Plainfield Quacker Day Parade for our 3rd year in a row! This year's theme for the town was celebrating America's 250th birthday. Partnered with Ivy Tech again this year đŸ„° We chose to celebrate the achievements of our culinary arts inmate population and all of their successes. Not to be outdone, Ivy Tech's incarcerated building trades students built us a massive 6ft*6ft "CAKE", weighing in at around 600 pounds, it was a thing of beauty 🎂 With over $1,000 in candy donated by the inmate population through various fundraisers, Employees were blessed to show the town that we continue to strengthen our population for reentry into society through the importance of teamwork and giving back where you can.

H Bracket’s end of summer pitch in
His team would like to congratulate Sergeant T. Bradley on his promotion. Please give him your full cooperation as he begins his new role. Sergeant Bradley first began his culinary career as a host at Bob Evans in 2005. Due to his dedication and efforts, he quickly moved to kitchen prep. After his meritorious time in kitchen prep, he promoted to grill cook. Sergeant Bradley’s culinary career at Bob Evans was briefly disrupted by his DOC service where he ultimately achieved his lifelong dream of “Grill Sergeant”. 😜

💙People can say what they want.
Comment what they want.
Judge from the outside looking in.
But the truth is the truth.
Being a Correction Officer changes you. You carry the stress, the responsibility, the things you’ve seen, the decisions you’ve made, and the constant pressure of keeping people safe. Then the shift ends, you go home, and somehow you’re expected to shut it all off and be completely present for everyone waiting on the other side.
Sometimes the uniform comes off, but the weight doesn’t.
Check on your people. Check on yourself. Don’t mistake silence for strength.
You matter. Your family matters. Your life outside those walls matters.

Officer Tyler Sutton passed away late on Friday September 11th.
A beloved co worker, Sutton dedicated several years to serving and protecting the community as a correctional officer at Plainfield Correctional Facility.
Known for his strength, integrity, and deep commitment to duty, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends.
Sutton was truly one of the nicest guys, always bringing a warm smile and a kind word to those around him.
A gentle soul with a giant heart, an easy laugh, and a kindness that left a lasting impact, he will be missed beyond words can express.

Prayers for our brothers and sisters at IWP during this difficult time, please know we are thinking of you. 💞

It is with the heaviest of hearts and much sadness, the Indiana Women's Prison must announce the passing of a most loved member of our family, Warden LaShelle Brown.

Warden Brown arrived here at the facility as Warden in 2021 and never looked back. Her charisma and leadership impacted countless lives in her short time with us and she will remain in our hearts forever.

We are comforted knowing that her faith led her and was a guiding factor in her life. As we all work through this loss, please keep her family, her friends and her extended family here at IWP in your thoughts and prayers.
