Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Plainfield! Did you know Irish immigrants were part of the early growth of our city in the late 1800s and early 1900s?

Many Irish-American families worked in the railroads, trades, and local businesses that helped shape Front Street and Watchung Avenue.

Today we celebrate the Irish heritage that helped shape Plainfield’s history. Do you have Irish roots in Plainfield? Share your family story below ☘️

Hello Everyone,

I'm sharing images of the gas meter work done within Crescent Historic District, anyone with the link can view the photos. All these photos were taken from the street. There is some info I attached from PSEG about meter locations as well as AI summary and Plainfield ordinance on screening.

There are some key clearance requirements:
3ft from electrical sources, including window AC units if installed
2ft from windows
From some of the installed photos I question whether these clearances are met, I did not walk up and measure but some appear closer than others. Also I question if homeowners know windows near these locations should not have window ac units installed.

Another key clearance recommended by PSEG is that meters should have clear access 3ft in front and 2ft on each side free of landscaping and fences. Which contradicts the city ordinance requiring screening.
