Folks with warm weather approaching this is a great reminder about e bikes. This post by Waukesha County Sheriff's Department is a great resource.

E-Bike Safety

As the weather warms, we have seen an increase in the use of electric bicycles (e-bikes) across the county. However, under Wisconsin law, certain requirements need to be met to be declared an e-bike. Some of these vehicles are actually electric dirt bikes and are classified as Off-Highway Motorcycles (OHMs or E-motos) not bicycles.
Under Wisconsin law, an electric bicycle (e-bike) must:
Have fully operational pedals capable of being powered by human effort
Have an electric motor of 750 watts or less
Fall into one of the following classifications:
🔹Class 1 E-Bike
• Pedal-assist only
• Motor assistance stops at 20 mph
• No throttle
🔹 Class 2 E-Bike
• Throttle-assisted (can operate with or without pedaling)
• Motor assistance stops at 20 mph
🔹 Class 3 E-Bike
• Pedal-assist only
• Motor assistance stops at 28 mph
• No person under the age of 16 may operate a Class 3 E-bike
No pedals = NOT an e-bike under Wisconsin law.
Many electric dirt bikes are classified as Off-Highway Motorcycles (OHMs) and are regulated differently under Wisconsin law through the Wisconsin DNR. This includes rules on where they can be operated, rider age requirements, and registration. Unlike traditional e-bikes, many of these electric dirt bikes weigh over 100 pounds and can reach speeds exceeding 65 mph.
As we continue into the summer months, deputies will be out promoting safe riding and educating riders on the law. Violations may result in warnings, citations, or other enforcement action when appropriate.
If you are unsure how your electric bike is classified, please contact your local law enforcement agency or the Wisconsin DNR.

Guys….... come on. We’ve gone over this before.

The brush pile in the village is for brush, not scrap building materials.

Let’s not give Chief VanHaren a reason to start hiding in the bushes in a ghillie suit just waiting to jump out and surprise people dumping construction debris in the brush pile.

Help us out and use the site for what it’s intended for.

Thank you for coming to our TED Talk

Community members, Tri-County School District, all of the volunteers, and donors who helped make the 2026 Tri-County Color Run a success - THANKYOU!

To everyone who came out and participated, you were amazing. It was incredible to see such a small community turn out in such large numbers with so much positivity and energy.
The Plainfield Police Department was proud to be a part of this event… .....even if our squad car did get “vandalized.” 😉🤣

📢Since this page is all about community, connection, and bringing a little more life to Plainfield, we thought this would be a great place to start spreading the word!📢

🎶 MUSIC IN THE PARK IS COMING TO PLAINFIELD 🎶

We’re working on bringing a FREE community music event to Watermans Park, because sometimes folks just need a reason to grab a lawn chair, get out of the house, relax, visit, and enjoy some good music with good neighbors.

No tickets. No fancy dress code. No need to pretend you know all the lyrics. Just bring your chair or blanket, pack your own snacks and beverages, and come enjoy an easy evening in the park.

We are also looking for people who would be interested in playing music, singing, or sharing their talent for this free community event.

Acoustic, small group, solo act, sing-along hero, guitar picker, porch-singer-gone-public… we’re open to ideas! 🎤🎸

This is all about bringing Plainfield together. A little music, a little fresh air, a little visiting, and a whole lot of “hey, I haven’t seen you since the gas station last Tuesday!” kind of small-town goodness. 😄

Please message or comment if you’re interested in being part of this! Whether you want to perform, attend, or just cheer from a lawn chair, we’d love to hear from you!

More details, dates, and musician announcements will be coming soon, so keep an eye out!

🎵 Free music. Fresh air. Good people. Good visiting. That’s the whole plan!!

Please share and let me know your thoughts!!!
