National Police Week 2026
May 10–16, 2026

Yoakum County joins communities across the country in recognizing National Police Week in honor of the brave men and women who so proudly protect and serve.

It has been a busy week full of court settings, patrols, traffic enforcement efforts, investigations, arrests, trainings and even a charity golf tournament.

As this week comes to an end, join us in taking time to thank our deputies, reserve deputies, and all local police officers—past and present—for their unwavering dedication, selfless sacrifice, and professional service to our Yoakum County community.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week. Established by a joint resolution of Congress in 1962, National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

National Police Week is a collaborative effort of many organizations dedicated to honoring America’s law enforcement community.
