Plainview ISD is excited to share a wonderful resource for families with children who have autism (medical diagnosis or school eligibility). The East Lubbock Mobile and Telehealth Outreach (ELMO) clinic offers free ABA services to families in Texas.

This program is for children of any age, and it focuses on giving you the tools to help your child succeed.
What is Parent-Implemented Intervention (PII)?
Instead of just watching a therapist, you will work one-on-one with a professional to learn the same special skills experts use.

One-on-One Training: You get personal time with a specialist.

Practice & Coaching: You will practice new skills with your child while an expert gives you tips in real-time.

A Clear Plan: When you finish, you will have a "next steps" plan for your home.

How to Join
You can choose the option that fits your family best:

In-Person: Visit the Burkhart Center clinic in Lubbock.

At Home (Telehealth): Connect online using a computer, tablet, or phone. This is a great option if you live far from Lubbock or have a busy schedule.

Understanding Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Dyslexia in Special Education
Join us for a free webinar on April 22, 2026, at 12:15 p.m. (CST). Understanding SLD and Dyslexia in Special Education is designed to help parents better understand how schools identify and support students with learning disabilities. This presentation will explain how parents can request a special education evaluation, what a Specific Learning Disability (SLD) means under special education law, and how dyslexia fits within the SLD category.

Parents will learn what to expect during the evaluation process, who is involved, and how decisions are made about eligibility and services. The session also explains the types of instruction and support that may be provided for students with dyslexia when they qualify for special education.

In addition, this presentation reviews parent rights, including what options are available if a parent disagrees with the results of an evaluation. The goal is to provide clear, accurate information so parents feel informed, supported, and confident in partnering with their child’s school to meet their child’s learning needs. Register here.

A reminder about the Parent-Directed Special Education Services Grant:
Parent-Directed Special Education Services (PDSES)
The PDSES program is a one-time-only $1,500 online grant for families of Texas public school students who receive special education services. This year's application window opens April 1 at 8 am CST and closes April 30 at 5 pm CST.
