🎇We love a good celebration, but keeping our community safe comes first. The City of Plainview Police Department would like to remind everyone that popping firecrackers inside the City limits is illegal.

Anyone found using fireworks within City limits may receive a Class C Misdemeanor citation with fines up to $500, and any fireworks in their possession may be confiscated. Citations may be issued by the Police Department or the Fire Marshal.

If you need to report illegal fireworks, please call 806 296 1182. Please keep in mind that many calls may come in throughout the evening. With high call volumes (and other ongoing incidents), response times may vary. All reports are handled in the order received, and calls involving emergencies such as accidents or assaults will always take priority.

Mother Nature: Here's some rain💧. Also, Mother Nature: Here come the mosquitoes 🦟.

Mosquitoes can grow from eggs to adults in less than 10 days. There are a few thing you can do to help prevent mosquitoes from breeding around your home.

Quick ways to stop mosquitoes:
✅Dump standing water
✅Clean gutters
✅Refresh birdbaths and pet bowls often
✅Empty and refill wading pools several times a week
✅Cover trash cans
✅Maintain pools and hot tubs

Protect yourself with the Four Ds:
📌Dusk/Dwan: Avoid peak mosquito hours
📌Dress: Wear long sleeves/pants outdoors
📌DEET: Use insect repellent
📌Drain: Remove standing water around your home
