Plainview Elgin Millville Foundation

Plainview Elgin Millville Foundation We serve the people of the PEM community by supporting nonprofits that build a stronger community. It conducts an annual fund raising drive.

The Plainview Elgin Millville Foundation was formed in 2007 specifically to provide fundraising and grant making services to the Plainview-Elgin-Millville community. As a community foundation, the Plainview Elgin Millville Foundation offers residents and nonresidents an opportunity to pool their charitable contributions for the common good of the community. The Foundation's goalβ€”simply putβ€”is to c

onnect local resources to local need. The three principle functions of the Foundation are:

Attract assets - the Foundation actively seeks contributions from new and long-standing donors that have connections to the community. It assists donors in managing their charitable giving by providing a variety of options for one-time and recurring donations. Managing assets - the Foundation is responsible for managing the pooled contributions for the use specified by donors. The Plainview Elgin Millville Foundation offers donors the option of contributing to the Endowment Fund, General Project Fund or Plainview-Elgin-Millville Educational Project Fund. In addition, donors may participate in a Deferred Giving Program or request that the Foundation create a separate program for special purpose gifts. Distributing assets - Foundation assets are placed in secure investments where they accrue interest. The Foundation distributes a portion of the pooled funds through grant making. Applicants for funding must demonstrate that their project is consistent with the Foundation's purpose and mission. Activities of the Foundation benefit: donors and potential donors by providing them with opportunities to contribute to meaningful local initiatives; local nonprofit and community organizations by developing local resources for local needs; and the community itself by funding critical projects that strengthen the community and lead to sustainability. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board that meets monthly. Board members actively work with other community members to identify needs as they become evident so that the Foundation assists local organizations in a timely manner. The Foundation offers quarterly grants with the following grant application deadlines: March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1. Grant applications received outside of these deadlines are decided on a case-by-case basis.

Meg Curtis from the Plainview Public Library received a check for $3500 to acquire Wonderbooks for the library.

Wonderbooks is an innovative print book with a built-in audiobook, aimed at improving vocabulary development, phonics, and comprehension skills.

This grant was facilitated by a matching grant from the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation (SMIF).

A sincere thank you to the PEM community for their incredible support. The collective efforts of attending the fundraiser, volunteering, sharing posts, participating as a dunkee, and providing sponsorship enabled us to raise $5,416 for next year's pool passes for PEM students.

Plainview librarian Meg Curtis raised the most money in the dunk tank. This feat got her a nice pie in the face. Thank you all the ladies who graciously agreed to be in the tank!

Here are a few snapshots from the evening. The tattoos and dunk tank were definitely the crowd favorites. Thank you to Logan Breuer from Pure Country WPVW for providing the entertainment!

Congratulations to all prize winners. We hope you enjoy them.

See you next year! β˜€οΈ
