M&T Bank robbery suspect arrested


On 2/20/2026, a bank robbery occurred at M&T Bank located at 117 East St. Plainville, CT. A weapon was displayed and threats were made by a lone male suspect demanding cash from a teller.

The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported. The suspect was described as a white male dressed in all black, average height, medium build, and had gray facial hair.

After a lengthy investigation by Plainville Police detectives, the suspect in this bank robbery was identified as fifty-eight-year-old Plainville resident Jeffrey Thibeault. On 6/3/2026,

Mr. Thibeault was taken into custody without incident at his residence and charged with Robbery, Threatening and Larceny. He was held on a $150,000 bond and appeared in New Britain Superior Court earlier this morning.
