The Aurora County Commissioners met by special meeting this morning and temporarily lifted the burn ban, a reminder that all controlled burns need to still be called in to 605-995-8400. If you have any questions please let me know.

The burn ban for Aurora County is still in place, the next commissioner meeting will be May 7th, our burn ban is a resolution and this must be lifted by an official motion during an official commissioner meeting.

🚨 AURORA COUNTY TORNADO DRILL 🚨

Be Prepared. Stay Safe. Practice Matters.

📅 Date: Friday, April 17th
⏰ Time: 10:00 AM
📍 Location: County-Wide (All of Aurora County)

Aurora County will be conducting a county-wide tornado drill for all residents.

What to Expect:

Warning sirens will sound at 10:00 AM
Residents are encouraged to practice seeking shelter immediately

Who Should Participate:

All residents
Schools
Businesses
Community organizations

Safety Reminder:
Take this time to review your emergency plans and identify your safe shelter locations (basements, storm shelters, or interior rooms away from windows).

The burn ban is still in place for Aurora County, this snow will not last long and conditions will go back to dry. Be patient and do not burn anything.

Interstate 90 will be closing from Sioux Falls to Wall tonight at midnight March 14th, 2026. All roads north of I-90 will be no travel advised. Please plan ahead and stay home!!

Today February 19th 2026 the Aurora County Commissioners have enacted a burn ban immediately! This is in place for all unincorporated areas within Aurora County.
