Happy Texas Arbor Day! Our friends at Rice Middle School and Samsung participated in our annual tree planting this morning, planting 11 native trees at Russell Creek Park 🌳 These trees will provide shade and fresh air for years to come. Thank you to our volunteers who helped lead the students during the process and to everyone else who made this morning possible. @cityofplano @samsung @planoisd #arborday #texasarborday #loveplano #healthytreeshealthylives #fridayfeeling #teamworkmakesthedreamwork

Please use caution when visiting a Plano park over the next few days. Located in low-elevation areas, parks like Oak Point Nature Preserve and others store floodwaters as creeks crest. Looks like they're doing a great job after recent rains!
If you do go out, make sure you are properly attired. Be extra careful when walking on the concrete trails, as standing water causes slippery conditions.
The best thing to do is let Mother Nature run its course and allow the waters to recede before venturing back into these natural areas. You can also check the status of Plano’s dog parks and athletic fields during rain events by visiting https://rainoutline.com/search/dnis/9722102936.

Come try out this low-impact workout and get ready to shape and tone (without sore joints or aching muscles).
Water-based training sessions have proven to be effective for many types of exercisers; particularly those with limited mobility or recovering from injury. Located within flood plains, Plano's parks and trails are prone to flash flooding during weather events like these. Please avoid flooded areas and be cautious on the trails, which can become very slick. #recreateresponsibly City of Plano, Texas Government

Bee hive at Parker and Canyon Rd. has been removed
The bee hive at Parker and Canyon roads has been gathered by a beekeeper contractor and will be taken to a farm to live happily ever after. According to our Natural Resources team, this was a different situation that called for a specialized response. The beekeeper said there was probably about 10,000 or so bees in the swarm. The sidewalk is now safe for using, and no one got stung in the removal process.
