New Community Free Play Hours!

Looking for a place to get outside and play? Community Free Play offers drop-in access to synthetic turf fields for individuals and small groupsā€”no reservation needed!

Carpenter Park | 6701 Coit Rd.
-Beginning the week of August 17
-Fridays from 5-9:30 pm
-Four synthetic turf fields available

Russell Creek Park | 3500 McDermott Rd.
-Beginning the week of August 17
-Mondays from 5-9 pm
-Two synthetic turf fields available

Community Free Play is designed for individuals and small groups. Organized games and practices are not permitted. Staff will be on site to answer questions and provide information about field use and reservations. For more information, go to plano.gov/athletics.

Volleyball Free Play at Frito Lay/Pepsi Ballpark | 6000 Jupiter Rd.

Starting Friday, August 28, volleyball free play for ages 16+ will be available on the last Friday of each month through October.

Trail Closure Alert šŸš§

Beginning Monday morning, August 17, the south side of Chisholm Trail at Independence Pkwy will be closed for several days. Crews will be removing sediment from the Independence Pkwy underpass to help improve drainage in the area.

Running or riding? The north side of the trail will remain open during this time!

Attention: Work has begun on sidewalk grading along the San Gabriel Drive frontage, north of the Bob Woodruff Park project site.

If you plan to visit and walk around the pond, please do not park along San Gabriel Drive due to ongoing construction. For your safety, use the gravel parking lots near Ranch Estates Drive instead.

Plano Outdoor Pool Hours August 10-September 7:

Plano outdoor pools are open current summer hours through August 9 and will be open on weekends only beginning August 10 - September 6. The timing of this change to operating hours is out of necessity, as many of our aquatics staff leave for college or high school.

Please note that Liberty Recreation Center Outdoor Pool and Jack Carter Outdoor Pool will close for the season on August 10.

All centers and pools (except for Jack Carter and Liberty outdoor pools) will be open on Labor Day, September 7 from 1-6 pm.

While summer is still in full swing, it's time to start planning your next adventure. Whether you're looking to get active, learn a new skill, explore your creativity, or connect with your community, Plano Parks & Recreation has something for every age and interest this fall.

Registration opens:
-Plano residents: Saturday, August 1 at 8 am
-Non-residents: Monday, August 3 at 5 am

Be on the lookout for the Fall Recreation Catalog, available online and arriving in mailboxes around July 17. It's packed with classes, sports leagues, fitness programs, arts, enrichment activities, special events, and so much more.
