Many personal items can be left behind at our dog parks, which can cause more harm than you think. Because so many dogs congregate at dog parks, diseases and fungal infections like canine distemper, kennel cough and others can be passed on to other through their saliva and stool. Don't forget to take toys, balls and bowls home with you 🐶

REMEMBER: Animals must wear current registration and rabies vaccination tags on a collar or harness at all times. For information on City of Plano licensing procedures and regulations, please visit www.plano.gov/194/Animal-Services or call 972-769-4360.

Many personal items can be left behind at our dog parks, which can cause more harm than you think. Because so many dogs congregate at dog parks, diseases and fungal infections like canine distemper, kennel cough and others can be passed on to other through their saliva and stool. Maintenance staff does make an effort to pick up any items weekly that are left at the park such as toys and bowls for sanitary purposes.

Make sure your dog is current on their vaccines before heading to the dog park, and don't forget to take toys, balls and bowls home with you. And always remember to pick up after up your pet.

The new sod is down at Lt. Russell A. Steindam Park! Temporary fencing will stay up to let the turf establish, with the park expected to reopen in early November. Thank you for your patience as we wind down this renovation project.

The renovations include:
🌳 Drainage improvements
🌳 New trail connection
🌳 New irrigation system
🌳 Tree additions throughout
🌳 Removal of some of the declining Hackberry trees with an alternative tree variety on the north side of the park, with progressive replacement in years to come.

This park, named in 1993, honors Plano's only Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. Lt. Steindam was killed in Vietnam in 1970 and posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor in 1971 for actions during the Vietnam conflict when he fell on a grenade to save his fellow soldiers. 10/06/2020

Pet waste is a problem if not addressed. It’s not pretty, it causes water pollution problems, and it’s a health risk to pets and people. Untreated pet waste washes into storm drains that flow into local creeks, eventually ending up in our lakes.

Dog doo is not a fertilizer. It contains bacteria and diseases that are harmful to people and pets. It’s also high in nitrogen and phosphorus, which leave those familiar burn marks on your lawn. Those chemicals are bad for your lawn and our creeks. Get tips for cleaning up after your pet and learn about the debunked pet waste myths at www.plano.gov/1948/Pet-Waste.

I'm trying to figure out how my Dad can get his flu and pneumonia shots this year without having to go into a store or doctors office. I was wondering if the Sam Johnson 50+ Center would be interested in setting up a drive up event for the seniors to get their annual flu or pneumonia shots from their cars. Do you think enough seniors would be interested in this?
Hello friends at Plano Parks and Rec. Want to thank whoever had the wonderful idea to let more areas within the city go wild. It's a truly wonderful idea, on every level, and I applaud the thinking and motivation and everything behind it. And, I want to offer a suggestion - The Cottonwood Greenbelt, particularly the open field just North of Park could let a lot more go back to the wild. There is also a baseball backstop which literally never gets used for anything which could be removed, and half or more of that field could be allowed to go wild. Thank you so much!
Thank you Plano Parks & Recreation for the new drinking fountain/bottle filler on Chisolm Trail, close to Orlando! Bella Boles gives it two thumbs up!

What is the status of the girls softball tournament in Plano....Angels for Autism???
The blind turns like the one in the photo above on the Legacy Trail are extremely dangerous. I was waking towards the bridge, a cyclist came in full speed from behind. As I was walking he moved to left side only to find a lady cyclist coming towards us. He almost hit her at that high speed. It could have been nasty for both of them. I missed heartbeat and can’t imagine what the cyclist lady went through! There needs to be a line marked at the center of the trail on such turns and warning signs for 1)not to go beyond line to the other side (for oncoming cyclists and walkers / runners. 2) avoid maneuvering blind turns at high speed. Thank you. 🙏
