Dog Parks 101❗
When visiting Plano's dog parks, the safety and happiness of you and your pets are important. Here are some tips and resources to help you next time you visit a dog park.

Sometimes it can be difficult to tell the difference between play and aggression in dogs. Watch your dog's body language to monitor for a happy pup or signs of trouble.

Remember to watch your pup and the other dogs at the park at all times. Visiting a dog park should be fun for both you and your pet! If you have any doubts if your dog or other dogs are acting appropriately, play is too rough, or your dog isn't having fun, leave the park. Your pet will thank you!

Resources:
Immediately report any off-leash dogs to Plano Animal Services at (972) 769-4360.
If you feel a dog is a danger to a person or other animals or if an owner is threatening to other park patrons, please call 911.

❤💙 Adoption Success Story 💙❤️
“When Max came into the meet and greet room he made it clear we were his family. Max fit right in immediately with our family (both human and feline) when we got him home. He spends his days annoying his older cat brothers, sunbathing in the afternoon sun, hunting squirrels and rabbits that are in the backyard from his view through the backdoor, and looks forward to watching Netflix with us every night. He really is purrrrfect, spoiled and well-loved.”

We love hearing from our former residents!

Here are some New Year's resolution ideas for you and your pet!

💡Make sure your Plano pet is registered with the Plano Animal Shelter
Not only is registering your pet a law, but it also helps you get your furry friend back to you quickly if they escape. Find more information on registering your pet at https://www.plano.gov/227/Pet-Registration.

🥣Measure your pet's food
By measuring your pet's food, you'll track their eating and will be able to adjust it if you're recommended to by your vet. If you don't measure your pet's food, they're likely overeating. For feeding guidelines, a good place to start is on the bag of your pet's food. It's also a good idea to run the amount by your vet.

🐾Go for a walk
You and your pet both benefit from taking a stroll. Get some steps in, enjoy the fresh air and your pup will love exploring on a walk.

🩺Make an appointment with your vet
Do you take your pet in for annual visits? Just like it's important for you, your pet needs to see a vet at least once a year. They'll stay up-to-date on shots and this will give your vet the time to inform you of any changes you should make to your pet's life.

🦷Brush your pet's teeth
Oral hygiene is very important in your pet's life. By tackling tartar and plaque, you'll increase your pet's health and avoid expensive dental procedures.

We want to wish you and your furry friends a safe and happy New Year's Eve! Here are some tips to keep your furry friends comfortable in the event they hear fireworks tonight.

1. Make sure they get some exercise before any festivities begin.
2. Prepare a safe space for them. Think about including their favorite toy.
3. Feed your pet a big meal 1-2 hours before the celebration to relax.
4. Cuddle your companion and keep calm so they can feed off your low-key energy.
5. Distract your pet with a television or radio to help drown out the sounds.
6. Identify your pet properly with an identification tag or microchip to help your pet find its way home to you if they manage to get out.

Shelter dogs are the best! Hubert and Sassy 💕
stray - looking for owner
My son and I adopted a couple of kittens a week ago; Hank and Cora. They seem to have adapted to their new home and each other quite well. Both sound asleep from playing..
For any families with pets in need
A puppy for Hannukah!! What an adorable video. But better than that, is a potentially housebroken partially trained doggie who won't chew everything in sight! That's what you get with adopting an older dog! I adopted at 7 years; she's now 15!
Pet_Pix is a free soundboard camera app I made that helps pet owners get better pictures/videos/selfies of their pets. Money made from an optional ad watch button is sent to help animals in need. Every like/share/download helps!
We have had our precious Nora for a year and 2 months ♥️ Thank you so much!!! She's so precious!
Thank you Plano Animal Shelter for helping me find Emma. I adopted her 2 months ago and she's been a wonderful addition to our family since day 1. She's been a loyal companion to both myself and my 6 year old son.
We adopted these two from Plano animal shelter. Sally the tan one about 10 years ago and Hank the black one about 8 years ago. Both are great and still going strong!
Has anyone seen Charlie? Lost in Richardson.
We brought Lola home as a puppy and now she is welcoming her new friend Sully the kitten 😺
