RSM is an after school education program for children in grades K-12 that offers top-quality instruction in mathematics.
Russian School of Mathematics (RSM) is Newton, MA based after-school math enrichment program. RSM is the oldest and the most respected program with an emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking. Since 1997, thousands of children came to RSM in search of a more challenging math program than what their school could offer or simply to improve their math skills. Most families stayed with us for
many years and made RSM an integral part of their children's development. RSM program is based on Russian teaching methodology; it includes and exceeds all the requirements of the U.S. public and private schools and SATI-SATII tests. RSM is one of the few after-school programs with a complete, continuous K-12 curriculum designed to ensure thorough math education in a logical, sequential and age-appropriate way. RSM’s special focus on problem solving and critical thinking is one of the main features of our program. Unlike many tutoring services, RSM takes a long-term fundamental approach to teaching math. Students learn to think mathematically and logically, as opposed to merely memorize and follow routines. This is the only way to help a child build a strong foundation for future math and science courses. One more feature that makes RSM truly unique is the early introduction of Algebra. Every year RSM students win recognition from Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (JH CTY) and receive awards for their high scores in American Math Competitions ( AMC-8, 10, 12), MOEMS and Math Kangaroo. Our students consistently demonstrate excellent SAT results: our 11th graders' SAT average is 774/800 and our 7-8th graders' Johns Hopkins SAT average is 684/800 (compare to Massachusetts average of 516/800) . Many of our graduates were accepted to Ivy League colleges and other prestigious universities

On May 18, 2022, KPRC2 ran a story about Sebastian Blachno, a 5th-grade student at RSM Houston who spearheaded efforts to help bring medical supplies to Ukrainian children and families.
During the interview, Walter Ulrich, the CEO of Medical Bridges, invited 10-year-old Sebastian to become the first Honorary Advisory Council Member of Medical Bridges - Sebastian gladly accepted the honor.

Thank you to our RSM family for a wonderful year! Our awards ceremony is an annual celebration where we honor the hard work of our students and their success. This year, we were able to have our first graduation ceremony, celebrating our first RSM graduates. Many of these students have been with us for as long as 6 years. We are extremely proud of our 2022 graduates! As well, we celebrated our math competition winners. The winners were awarded for their outstanding performance in competitions such as AMC, IMC, Math Kangaroo, MOEMS, and Noetic. Our ceremony consisted of math games and treats. Thank you to all who attended and we are extremely grateful to our teachers and parents who are constantly supporting the students.

It's time again for another exciting math competition season! As always, registration for the 7th annual International Math Contest opens on January 1st. The contest will be open to students in grades 3-10.
The IMC features a free 30-minute Online Challenge in February which serves as a qualifier for the challenging Russian Math Olympiad (RMO) in April. Participation in the contest is FREE with the option of purchasing a performance report that will provide deep insight into your child's grasp of mathematical concepts that are traditionally mastered by their international peers.
