On the course of a long line of family history of service in the military, dating all the way back to the Civil War, Sgt. Dakota Norris continues the tradition proudly. It was never a question of if Norris would join the U.S. Army, it was only a matter of when.

Growing up with dreams and aspirations of being a soldier in battle similar to the movies he watched, early on, Norris was active outside honing his skills and leadership.

With the honor and pride his family holds through their military service lineage, Norris plans to carry the torch. He hopes the tradition will continue to be passed down to younger generations throughout his family.

Patient Zero, the five-piece rock band within the San Antonio-based 323rd Army Band, performed for “Stay Day” at Plano Senior High School recently on a chilly fall day.
In addition to Patient Zero, various bands from Plano HS performed and various food vendors offered an assortment of cuisines and school clubs signing new members. Recruiters from the Plano Recruiting Center passed out prizes for students who could do a certain amount of pullups on the bar.
Patient Zero band members are Sgt. 1st Class Jason Stephens on drums and vocals, Staff Sgt. Nakita Fox on lead vocals, Sgt. Lucanus Marines on lead guitar, Sgt. Travis Werling on bass and vocals, and Sgt. Aaron Gutierrez on guitar and vocals.

PLANO—Future Soldiers from across the Plano Recruiting Company came together for Plano’s Mega Future Soldier training event March 15 at Bob Woodruff Park here.
Future Soldiers from the three main recruiting centers that comprise Plano Company trained on marching—drill and ceremonies in Army speak—including proper salutes, facing movements and various forms of formation.
In addition, Future Soldiers played volleyball, soccer and football and enjoyed hot dogs, hamburgers and all the trimmings for lunch.
Sgt. 1st Class Steven Payne, the Assistant Center Commander for the Plano Recruiting Center said the camaraderie was outstanding and the Future Soldiers all had a great time as well as seeing their recruiters in a different perspective.
“The Future Soldiers here had a lot of positive feedback and enjoyed each other’s company,” he said. “They got to see us and how we relax a little.”
